...almost done

A trailer hitch lock not only insures the latch will stay in place, it helps keep it attached to your TV while you are having lunch.

Ah, I understand... I already got one. That's the line that says, "Hitch coupler lock".

Most folks don't think about a locking pin in the receiver. So anyone can just slip out the ball mount, slip it into their receiver & pull on out. A couple of amateurs could take up to a minute to switch a tear if they hooked up the safety chains.

Yes - you need a locking pin on the receiver and the locking hitch. Also, when I'm unhitched I also wrap the chains around the tongue and lock them so that they can't be unwound and used to tow it away.

My quiet ride receiver has a lock on it.

However, I have noticed that the ball itself is not lockable and I did not see any product to allow the ball to be locked to the receiver. Anyone with a wrench could just unscrew the ball and take the teardrop and ball. I don't currently see a solution for that one.

Lyle,

Congrats on the completion of your trailer.

Did you buy a spare tire? If so, you will want to double-check to make sure the the lug wrench on your tow vehicle will also work for the trailer. If it doesn't, you'll need a separate lug wrench for the trailer. The good news is they are fairly cheap - I paid about $15 for one.

Do you have access to a welder, Lyle? A couple of small welds would do the trick.

Nope... Cary convinced me that a can of fix-a-flat was both cheaper and took up less space.... I should actually put the fix-a-flat cans on my purchased accessory list.

Cary also suggested that I check and compare the bolt pattern of the full sized spare on my CR-V with the bolt pattern of the trailer. They might well match, which would mean I could use my CR-V spare in a pinch on the trailer.
