SOLD 550 Ultra

Re: 550 Ultra

After reading the linked post, it appears they are not actually selling it, yet. Looks like they're sticking their toes in the water to see what kind of response they get. Although then he did say that if someone offered $14,000 he'd sell it right now...

Re: 550 Ultra

Yes, it is for sale...
Now officially for sale is our 2008 Camp Inn 550 Ultra, with all options. We know there's a long wait for a new one, and camping season is fast approaching, so we're anxious to see if we can fund our larger accommodations...here are the details:

2008 550 Ultra SUV option
Stainless bumper
Air cond.
Furnace
Sun roof
AlCan cover
Stainless main table
Wood side table
Fridge
Jacks
Spare tires (donut & full-size)
Side tents (2)
Battery isolator
Backup lts.
Receiver hitch
Lifeline AGM battery (not factory)
City water/LP gas extension
Factory installed dual filament cabin lts. (same as galley lt.)
Stainless fenders

Interior is perfect, aluminum exterior is 8/10, showing wear from our adventures and willingness on my part to let the aluminum do its thing. I don't have time now to post pics, but may do so in the future. Anyway, hope this provides some more info on what we have for sale. $14,000/obo, and will deliver just about anywhere for gas.

Any interest, please email us at:

We have lots of pics available here:

Re: 550 Ultra

Looks to be in great shape! I see you've been to the Indiana Dunes State Park - that's been a popular weekend spot for us over the years as the kids were growing up. We haven't camped there since getting the CampInn, but I'm sure we'll be back there soon. Good luck with selling your camper.

Re: 550 Ultra

I grew up in Chesterton, IN, about two miles from the Dunes State Park. It's gotten much better over the years, and the campground is wonderful, as you've said. We'll be there again this summer...an added bonus is the proximity to the South Shore Railroad, which can provide a scenic and relaxing ride into Chicago for the day.

Cheers,
Tom

Re: 550 Ultra

I've changed the estimate of the condition of the exterior to 8/10, based on the advice of those who have seen the camper recently. Not one dent to be found, just some smudges and smears on the aluminum finish in various places. Probably the most noticeable blemishes are on the stainless fenders, where the road to Toroweep on the north rim of the Grand Canyon took its toll. Cary and Craig at Camp Inn both suggested that some emery paper and a little elbow grease would make it look close to new.

Cheers,
Tom

Re: 550 Ultra

Nope, no brakes. I tow it with a Honda Ridgeline, and have never felt like it was pushing me.

Tom

Re: 550 Ultra

Yeah, some states require brakes to register a trailer, depending on the weight. For California, it was 1,500 pounds. Saw a AAA triptik page once that listed all the states' limits, and I think some may have been lower, some didn't have a limit. My manufacturer's certificate (from Camp-Inn) said 1,510 pounds (which didn't much matter to me because I wanted brakes anyway). The Camp-Inn website has a pretty good info piece on trailer weight rating alternatives.

Re: 550 Ultra

If the 550 is a good price you should give Cary a call at Camp Inn and see if you can add the brakes i think you can. :)

Re: 550 Ultra

The other thing to take into consideration is the tow rating for your vehicle. Mine, 2009 subaru forester, says 1000 lbs without brakes, 2400 lbs with brakes.

Re: 550 Ultra

For anyone living between Cincinnati and Las Vegas, we'll be making that trip next weekend, so if you're interested in buying our Camp Inn, here's your chance to have it delivered!

Cheers,
Tom

Re: 550 Ultra

Yeah, I have a 2009 Forester too, which is why I am looking for brakes. I did ask about adding brakes afterwards, but this was not advised.

So I will keep looking for a used 550 with brakes. That is really what I have my heart set on.
