Itinerary 2nd Annual Nw Camp-inn Round Up

Heheh... so this is what happens when one doesn't show up at meetings.. Everyone "Volunteers" the person that didn't show (joking)..
Guess we should be RSVP quickly if are planning on Mem day. Mem days would be crowded, usually the week before or after would be less crowded.

Need to know:
1. Does anyone need power
2. Does Memorial weekend or another time be better
3. Does Mossy-rock fit the billl

If all of the above work, then my vote will be for Mossy-rock if it's available. Might ask what a back up might be.

Once we have the Date set, the Campsite set, then we can book it, Dano (Hawaii Five-O)

Hope that helps, look forward to some picks but doesn't really make too much of a difference.. They all have their good sides and not so good sides..

I am happy to help where I can.

Looks like we would need space for 11 (or did I miss count?).

Early on in this conversation, Evan had polled the group, and it seemed Memorial Day worked best for most. We need folks to speak up, if that has changed. Memorial Day works great for me and the lad. Mick will be flying in from England, so he may or may not be with us this time (or may drive up late, like last time). Either way, I will be there.

I would say if we want to escape the crowds, the spots further out of the way might be better. If folks need power (I would probably use it if it was there, but certainly don't need it), we should focus on those spots, which looks like it would put us in the thick of things. Growing up going to lots of lakes with boats, I don't have much of a problem with them, plus, I have a feeling we are going to be taking some field trips too and wandering around.

Now the tough bit...decisions! How do other folks feel? What do you need/want? I say we go with the consensus.
 
I like Memorial Day. I would probably take Friday off for a nice long weekend. I do not require power and crowds will not bother me. Again, I am flexible regarding what the group wants to do.

Can use power, but don't need to... I have battery Christmas Tree lights. heheh just can't escape it... Mossy work fine, when/where ever, just let me know..
 
Thanks for visiting the site and taking pictures - looks very workable. I can just see our trailers in a big circle and all of use sitting around in our camp chairs just yacking away!

So, I'm seeing Asphalt with backup blocks and the fire pits.. I"m assuming the camping part is on grass?? not Asphalt parking lot??

Like the grass photos, but didn't see any fire pits... and blocked with the picnic tables.. just wondering eh??

Based on the pictures, I am kind of liking the grassier Mayfield. Thanks for taking the pictures...it will help make the decision. What do you think you like best for the group based on what you saw there? What do others think?

All pictures have been posted in the gallery. I apologize for the numerous spelling errors. I certainly have been having fun with this; last Sunday was a gorgeous day it was great to be out on a mission. So the devil is in the details, each site has issues and is subject to availability that is difficult to ascertain. Shirley will call tomorrow and try to work through the availably issues. Except for Mayfield we will have to reserve in person or through the mail. Mayfield can be reserved by phone. The primitive camp sites can be reserved as a single unit, the rest require some deal with five units booked a t a time. From what I am hearing, electrical hookups would be nice but not critical except I not sure how Frank is going to work his blenders without them. Preferences seem to be for either Mayfield or Mossyrock.

I've got the blender, Battery.. so no Problem-O..

Also, FYI, you might want to park me off to the side. My decals (truck & Le Droppe)/stickers are pin-up types and may not be suitable for kids.. Nothing you wouldn't see at a beach, but pinups they are.. also on the blender.... I was planning on leaving the blender home for that reason so let me know. Don't want to offend anyone, I camp with divers, and they don't object as much as others might, just let me know, not a problem... HTH

Frank, with all of the images out there, including people who have been shot dead on the street on the news before I have had my coffee, I don't find the images on your trailer offensive. Our 4-year old didn't even notice last year. If you have a giant green and yellow 'O' on your trailer, you would be more likely to get his attention (eh-hem...go ducks!)! :)
 
Ok, thanks much for the reply, just never sure how people will react, but still put me to the side, out of the way.. heheh Noise etc.. I'll plan on bringing the blender either battery if we decide no power or the other one...

It is looking like we will be camping at the primitive group camp in Mossyrock. Mayfield is already booked, Alder is expensive and logistically challenging and I don’t think Taidnapam is as nice as Mossyrock.

Mossyrock has the advantages of being isolated from the main campground, is private and is a pretty site. It is also the least expensive option, sb $50 a unit for three nights if we get 10 trailers. We can easily expand up to 20 units at an extra cost of $10/night per unit. The bark ranger that Shirley talked to is very nice and seems interested in having some tear drops around. We sent a down payment on the site but since everything is done by mail we cannot confirm if we have the site until early this week. The site does allow for the clustering of units instead of having a bunch of units lined up in a row. The site is designed for 80 people in tents so it should be pretty comfortable for us.

There is no electricity, flush toilets, showers, internet, a handy shelter or concierge service. The pit toilets are nice and there is a two spigot water source. There are a lot of picnic tables but only one fire ring. Flush toilets and showers can be found elsewhere at the park. The park is fairly large. I would expect that there will be an outlet away from the site that we can plug into if we need to.

One aspect of the site, not sure if it is a benefit or disadvantage is the large number of moles. So if you are a big fan of Whac-A-Mole, this site is for you. Bring a large mallet and we will have a real Whac-A-Mole tournament. If you don’t like moles, bring your cat, he will like them just fine.

The area around Mossyrock is very pastoral and I expect that in May the whole area will be quite beautiful. It is well located for those in the NW and is a short drive from I-5.

Finally, about Frank’s art collection, my wife suggested that Frank look into some blender cozies (any crocheters out there?); however, I think she was just being funny. Fwiw, the space is big enough to host both an adult and kids section if we need to, albeit, I bet we will not need to.

We will proceed with securing the site; we can always cancel. If anyone finds something better, let us know.
 
I know it is pet friendly, but they didnt have to go so far to provide at least 3 for each of us...right? :) I have a very sweet black lab/Brittany Spaniel who we like to camp with. She is exceptional at mole hunting (has caught 3 in our yard last year), so she should stay busy for the weekend! Ha!

Sounds great to me. Sarah, maybe your dog can teach my dog to hunt moles. I have one in the backyard I am trying to get rid of. Problem is that, unlike your dog, Bailey doesn't have much of a weight advantage over the moles and can be afraid of his own shadow. Oh well, I can always hope.
