Thanks for the offer Matt. Jenny and I may take you up on that but can't right now because of work. We're in Va. Beach. JP

    Rent a TD

Just checked the map, the county park we camp at on Lake Petenwell is only about 15 miles or so from Necedah. A lot closer than I thought.

    Rent a TD

Thank you for the quick response. We plan to visit with my sister in WI in September but we will be there from Sept 3rd to the 16th, too early for your gathering. Got to be back in Virginia the 17th for my daughters birthday, the weekend after that for my sons wedding, and the weekend after that...

Do you camp to travel or travel to camp?

Guess it depends on what you plan to do for your outing. If Jenny and I go for the weekend, we're just traveling to camp (and fish). However last year we went to Yellowstone, which was a camp to travel adventure. Traveled 4000 miles round trip, camping in a tent at Yellowstone, and drove another...

    Food Storage in Bear Country

Bear Spray is up to you. If you plan to do any backcountry hiking, it probably a good idea. Hiking bells (small bells you either wear or put on you pack) which will make noise as you walk is also a good idea. Black bears are pretty easy to scare off with enough noise. But if you got one which...

    Food Storage in Bear Country

We visited Yellowstone National Park last year which has both Grizzly and Black bears. Park camping regulations in Yellowstone are pretty strict concerning food storage. Any time when we were away sightseeing or at night sleeping, all food, food containers (coolers, food prep items, stoves) had...

    Weighing down your sun shade

Occationally I read of someone losing a sunshade because of high winds. This could be because the sunshade was not staked down well enough, or maybe it wasn't staked down at all. My wife and I go to many outdoor art shows here in Virginia Beach. Some of the largest are held on the boardwalk at...

Replacement battery - where to buy?

What ever size battery that you end up getting, it's worth finding a deep cycle marine battery to replace the one you have. It will hold a charge longer than a regular car battery.

Announcement New Raindrop Waiting To Be Picked Up!

Whoa, not even gonna try stopping in Yellowstone to see if the 560 is bear proof? JP

Check out this new "must have"

Only drawback I see is if your camping on hardpan or some kind of pad where you can't sink the poles in. Otherwise I see as a quick was to block wind and rain. Nice find.
