    Refilling 1lb propane bottles...

This bottle is leaking from its relief valve not the fill valve. It is now down from its full 29 oz to about 21 oz. I may try a Schrader valve wrench to snug it up if I can find one that fits, but this bottle is out of the rotation...

    Refilling 1lb propane bottles...

After filling 4 empties, I've kept them outside and have been weighing them regularly. One of them has a slow leak, which is enough for me to realize that these disposables are not going to get refilled again. They have thinner walls and are also more apt to develop rust inside than bottles...

    Refilling 1lb propane bottles...

I finally found a YouTube video that shows a guy relieving the pressure using a needle nose pliers on the bottle's pin to make room for the LP. I filled 4 1lb'ers just now using that technique. I kept them all at just under 30 oz when full. Pretty simple. At anywhere from $7 to $9 a pop for a...

    Refilling 1lb propane bottles...

I've never tried it, until now, and it's not been a rousing success. Seems that it'd be a straightforward process, too. I've heard Never Do It and heard that it's not an issue. My situation is that I only get a couple ounces into the bottle and no more. And when I disconnect it there's a...

For a round trip with the teardrop it was $127 total including the 2 old farts in the car. It was a great place. Not to be confused with nearby Put In Bay, which is a big party fest from what we heard around the island. Just sayin'...

That's incredible. Looks like that system just sat there and rained... We've got friends who have a place near Viroqua, WI and it looks like they got their share as well. They're up in the Twin Cities so they're lucky...

We're heading out tomorrow for a few days, FINALLY. Going to Kelleys Island State Park in Ohio, a place we've never heard of but that sounds like an interesting piece of land to explore. We'll bring the bikes and yaks and just relax...

Living in Chicago, Frazier Thomas was an institution. He was on WGN TV every weekday hosting Garfield Goose. And then Sunday duty hosting Family Classics, such as Tobor the Great (that's Robot spelled backward) or Journey to the Center of the Earth with James Mason. Mostly in B&W of course.

Chicago Public Schools used to go to almost the end of June when I was a kid a little over a half century ago, and back right after Labor Day. Things have changed since then, with school ending mid June and returning mid August. I think I'd rather be on the old schedule, to be out of school...

I remember those 45° mornings fondly. We spent a week just outside of Santa Fe back in June of 2011 and slept with the doors open under a down comforter. Heaven.

Sounds great! I spent a couple days with one of my daughters and my 95 year old mom at her place in SW Michigan. Did some grilling, watched some fireworks and enjoyed each other's company. Very nice indeed:)
