Road Toad Galley Wings?

What do you mean by "wings" exactly?
Something like the attached side and rear tables that are options on a 560?

I've got a couple camping tables from tent camping like you can get at REI I can set up but they are a bit rickety compared to the ones attached to the 560.


This one is on sale and the similarly braced but square one I carry in 560 if I want a place to set out food beyond the side tables works well enough.


If you are frugal and expect longer hard use over a couple three years I'd go bigger. Like what you might get at Home Depot or Lowes. The trick will be where to stow.


I'm sort of surprised we are not seeing more RT owners asking questions here. Lots of good advice on gear thats separate from the CI but useful for RT, and camping places that work for both.

I wonder if the RT folks have their own webforum or FB group. That would make sense as numbers increase and folks get on the road.

I am a Toadie. Now 1 of about 400, I think. Our galley is shaped differently, and there is no Road Toad listed option. Anybody had luck with custom/generic product?

Sorry I can't help with that but I'd like to invite you to stick around and invite your other Toadie friends over here. This place needs more activity. Much of it is not trailer specific (although some obviously is). Plenty of camping, traveling, food, and gear talk that applies to all outdoor enthusiasts. Everybody is welcome.
 
Absolutely. Cary/Craig have built an amazing company, lifestyle and following. Their products are solid and will last a long, long time.

Teardrops are teardrops. We do share many of the same camping experiences as people in squaredrops, overlanding, even those with small fiberglass trailers with bathrooms or kitchens, that kinda look teardroppish. Ironically, I camped next to a Cricket my 3rd night of ownership, and my RT is parked NEXT to a Cricket in storage.

I've scaled up and down over the years from tent, motorcycle/tent then with trailer, small fiberglass, small aluminum to motorhome to Road Toad. Every year, every trip I seem to learn/try something new. Other campers, online, videos. I like to see what others are doing.

Still focusing on basic shade, sun, rain and wind protections. Hence the Galley Wings/Screen query.

The motorhome has a large pushbutton awning for shade and to cover an area when there's light rain, and I can add the mosquito protection.There's so much room to lounge in the motorhome on yucky days or when the mosquitoes come to carry you away, I just got spoiled.

Now I'm trying tarps, sunscreen mesh because the TD is a good sleeping space, but not so much other times. I have a starter 2 person tent w/large tarp covering TD door spanning a card playing space and covering the tent for rainy night. The poles, tent, tarp and suction cups were $60. Then, I got a clearance Slumberjack tent with "truck awning" to span over to the TD. That will handle 3-4 guests. I'll scale up depending if I have family/friends joining. I can't bring everything with, so I have a couple of solutions for different camp sizes, including just myself.

Sounds like you have a lot of good experience to share. My background is a lot more limited so I share what I can and try to learn from what I read. And the connection we all have to Craig and Carry cannot be understated. Truly the best teardrop company to do business with.

A LOT of very good campsite and trip reviews if you search the archives.

And some good tips on useful gear like sand-mats, folding chairs, sogens, fridges, that work for any style of small towed camper,

and to your interest-
Some screen-house style tents to hang out in buggy places that can be snugged in and up-over the galley end...of the CI that I imagine would work on RT too.

And the current fav seems to be ...

Thread 'Awning solutions?'

Hello everyone - My wife and I are planning some extended stay trips (set up a basecamp and explore an area for a week or so). I have been looking at SUV screen tents and different awnings for the REAR over the kitchen area. We are thinking having the capability to hang out in the tent bug free before and after a day's adventure would be a good thing. Any suggestions? Is anyone using an SUV tent off of the rear kitchen in this manner? Thanks!
