Camper Vans

If I ever did something like that, I'd want something commercial and common. The last thing I need is to be stuck on the side of the road not being able to find a simple part. Are they cool and unique -- absolutley. But I've had the misfortunate of not being able to help people who had cool toys, that I can't 'fix' them --- becuase they just don't make that part any more
Yup. i was slowly assembling a few key items...portal axles?
The selling point for me was they were made so simple that any Swiss farm boy could work on them. I had to drive thru LA traffic to San Bernardino to the one old Swiss Farm boy left with all the tools, was my problem.
Or invest in all those tools myself.

Too hard. But fun while it lasted.
Best part was driving up to school with kids waving from the rooftop observer hatch, at the horrified Progtard PTA Mommies with Lattes.

I'm sorta kinda thinking I may know a guy who may have crossed a live range cutting from one to another...scouting for deer...

I'm told it was the Marines looking bemused from under the camo tents..."wtf is that? Its even older than our second hand humvees and amtracks..."

I sold it to an enthusiastic junior Marine officer later who had great ideas and better skills, at a discounted price...paid it forward.

Now, Mogs? There are LOTS of those out there...a big community in CO, still. And plenty of parts in circulation or in junkyards.

Thats the key. Buy a german tractor!

To each his own. I like these van camper rigs because they fit my needs. My dream van would be a simple cargo van with all the driving extras. Then i would finish the inside myself with just a bed and table and lots of storage. I would have enough extras to make coffee and heat food. Notice i did not say cook.

I dont camp i travel and that setup would allow me to park anywhere you might see a cargo van. My CI is nice but it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Say i want to head out to LA from Milwaukee. I might take a week getting there only to turn around and take a week to get back. This may sound crazy but i like driving down the road and stopping at every tourist trap i find.

Whats really nice about my idea is that i can pull the CI if i want more luxuries and want to look cool doing it.
