You need a liquor cabinet, don’t you?

This mod I’m particularly proud of. It started when we just got the trailer and transferred two milk crates of our tent camping gear to the kitchen. Stuff went on top of the cabinets, and pots pans etc in one of the deep bins. Dry foods on the other side. That silverware drawer holds so much, it is still one the best changes since tent camping! When all was put away, the little cabinet on the right, with the door, was unused. Now what to do with that? And then it struck me: it’s the perfect size for a liquor cabinet! It’s almost like it was designed for it.
Camping is not the same anymore! We park the trailer and we mix up something. Our favorite is a rosemary limoncello gin tonic. But I can mix up a jalapeño gold margarita, cosmo, black russian etc. Whatever we’re in the mood for. You can buy every brand liquor in these cute 375 ml bottles that I refill at home.
The mod is: power tapped with a T-connector from the 12V line in the back of the cabinet. It has a manual switch, a door switch and short LED strip of 6 lights. Adhesive wire clips secure the wire. Double layer of felt at the bottom.
Initially I cut some dividers out of a foam sheet to try it out. I was going to make my own wooden drawer dividers but getting those cut to fit perfectly and install them in the cabinet is not simple. I found springloaded drawer dividers on Amazon. One of the few taller than 2”: Vriccc 4.4" High Drawer Dividers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LV2YNDJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. They clamp in, so I can remove it if necessary. It did take a lot of back and forth making small cuts and filing to make them fit just right. That spring inside them means you have to cut carefully or you ruin your saw. It was much fun to build, mostly due to the anticipation of using it. We’re into our 2nd season with it and have been to Colorado and Maine and many short trips in between. Never comes loose, never a broken bottle and much enjoyment.

I’m camping with you!

Build a traveling liquor cabinet and get popular! We would love to come out in Sept but it is difficult w our schedules. But if anyone is within a couple hrs of Rochester, NY, happy to share a mix in person.

A funny add-on: about when I finished the cabinet, we stopped using a regular cooler and bought an Iceco w a Jackery. Very expensive but a most beneficial change in camping. No more worries about food going bad or soggy food. Then as we loaded it for its first trip, it dawned on us: no more ice!! The horror! Cocktails that weekend were just not good. So ironically, we now have a second small 16L nonelectric CampZero cooler with us, just for ice!

I did not realize you were just around Rochester. We are up north of Syracuse but about to move to Wisconsin.

We have had good luck with using a thermal stainless steel growler to hold ice on camping trips. Smaller than a cooler and sometimes gas stations don’t blink if we ask to put ice in it from the soda fountain (we always ask, of course).

Nicely done! Love the lighting.

Frank Poole would have loved this. Search the forums for "Margaritas" and I'm sure you'll find pictures of him and his mixer.

My wife and I grew up in Rochester - home of the Nick Tahoe's "garbage plate" and Zweigles "white hots". Still order them online once in a while.
