Mattress Options For A Softer Mattress

Well, like I said, the fact that our trailers are just a bit narrower than a standard queen makes it a snug fit so sliding it up and folding it is not as easy as it could (should!) be. You could certainly still do it though the exposed area would be down at the feet where there is less room and accessibility. For us, covering the bed with an old bedspread when travelling loaded up is an easier solution.
...but get the mattress anyway. It is excellent and a bargain.

We have the 4” Milliard trifold mattress as well and slept on it for about 10 days now. It sleeps remarkably well for only 4” thick. As mentioned, it fits tightly so we cut off about an 1”-1.5” of the width. There is another fabric cover underneath the outer cover that zips off. It’s more like a webbing. There is enough slack that you can stretch it and run it through a sewing machine to sew it back together. Fits just snug between the doors but narrowing the mattress made it much easier to put the sheets on.

Based on this and gregansten’s response, it sounds like I can’t use this mattress to fold the sleeping side out of the way and expose the floor space / floor bins when traveling. Is that how you see it as well?

We cover the mattress with a tarp so that our crap (ahem, cargo) doesn’t get the bedsheets dirty or wet … and yet, it always seems to happen anyway.

I currently have a full size, 5 inch mattress and like the little bit of space around the mattress edges. The mattress is about 6 or 7 years old and is really firm. That's ok but some times I'd like it a bit softer and this inflating mattress sounds like you could have options. And this one could be gotten in and out of the trailer easier.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this kind of mattress? Maybe it's already been discussed?

For our previous camper and our CI we added a 2+” reversible mattress topper over the existing and it is wonderful! Easy to roll up out of the way and not too heavy or inflexible when accessing under mattress storage. Almost as soft as our home bed and absolutely enough padding to not “bottom out” for side sleepers.
 
On our 1st Camp-Inn Camp-Outt, maybe 2018 we met a couple, although I don’t know their names, they had two trifold mattresses that they folded up in the daytime and put the in the footwell, and then had their seat in the couch position and had a beautiful wall to wall rug on the floor, so it truly looked like a living room. If I remember correctly they also had a little dog, maybe a Yorkie. Does anyone know these people, I’d just like to find the brand of the trifold mattresses they have and where they bought them. Thanks!

I remember them. From Indiana I think. They don't have their Raindrop any more. That was a great setup! There are some great speciality rv mattress companies now that will make what ever you want. The whole van life, teardrop industry exploded and these companies came with. There is a company in Oregon...I'll go find the name... Roam Rest. I.liked that they went as organic as possible.
 
Not that I’m aware of. Never heard of them. Not willing to spend a ton of money until we find something we can try before making it a permanent thing. We’ll probably just keep using the standard mattress with a topper.
