Never heard of it ...
As a kid, I grew up with Speed Racer. And let's face it, what's more cool as a kid than a car that can jump, go underwater, chop down trees, not to mention homing pigeons? I've made a pilgrimage to Dezerland in Florida to see the life-size replica. (I think that is where I saw it.) It was SURREAL to see.

at least in my memory. I'd prefer watch the original with Burt Lancaster (Criss Cross)My "why did I watch that again!" moment was "Star Blazers" which was also known as "Space Battleship Yamato" and recently made into a horrible live action version.

It wasn't a camping weekend, but I did something a little different this weekend.
I have several friends that I haven't seen since before the great unpleasantness of 2020. We formerly went to the same parish, but due to events, two started meeting their Sunday obligations elsewhere. I still talked to them on Facebook, texted them, or phoned them, but we never were able to coordinate our lives enough to actually spend time together.
We rented an AIRBNB. There were four of us, and we found a farmhouse with four bedrooms. The total bill was around $480 for the weekend. 60 bucks a night for two nights...what a bargain! We had a full run of the home, a kitchen with basic cooking gear, essentials (salt, pepper, etc.), and some pantry items that were left by the proprietor and previous guests.
For our trip, we visited 4 distilleries:
-Jeptha Creed
-Bulleit
-Whiskey Thief Distillery
-Buffalo Trace
When I first heard of the trail in around 2000, there were 7 -- it's somewhere near 50 now.
We also visited a diner called the Cliffside Diner. Its on the backside of these state capital at the base of the cliff that Frankfort sits on. Probably the best hamburger I've had in as long as I can remember, I liked it better than Dyers that I was at last week -- but it shared some of the same properties. If you're a grease-phobe I'd suggest caution, but if you like a tasty burger -- high recommend the place.
Favorite experience? Jeptha Creed -- young woman (Hayden) did the tasting, and she was not hurried, and she was she was entertaining and well polished. Her pour was impressive. They used these little 'communion cups' and when she poured, not a drop hit the counter -- but each had a slight 'crown' from surface tension --- she was quite talented
Bulleit didn't have at tasting room, they had a bar where you could buy a flight. $14 for 5 2oz pours. Affordable yes. But I did not want to have 8 oz of whiskey in me...They allows splitting the glasses, but even 4 oz was too much. I liked their barrel strength best, but not enough to buy. Robust, Strong, lots of spice. I didnt' like the reset at all -- and that was the consensus. Not of it was very good
Least Favorite was Buffalo Trace who threw tiny samples -- I mean a a quarter teaspoon? Not enough to give an adequate 'chew'
Saving the best for last, was Whiskey Thief Distillery. Least "refined" business, very much a "craft" experience. Located on a small side road, with a dirt farm path to get to the experience room. You were getting the bourbon straight ouf of the barrel. But at $35 was just a bit pricy. We were "complaining" among ourselves when an employee overheard us (possibly an owner or manager), and she directed us to a small tasting room at the top of the hill -- 3 samples for $10 if I recollect correctly. Their Rye was very good --- the best of the trip. Sweet, slight spice, and had a buttery finish --- I actually got a strong note of butterscotch off mine.
If you're in Kentucky, of age, and have a day -- we started at 11am and finished at 4:36 at our last stop, woodford reserve, but the last pour was at 4:30. Next time, maybe.
On Sunday we visited St Martin of Tours Shrine in Louisville. It was one of the most beautiful Masses I have EVER been to. The Schola (choir) was spot on! It always amuses me that in every movie, when they go into an empty church there is chanting. That isn't the way it is....but musically, that is called Gregorian Chant -- and it is the musical setting for the TLM. Incredible. The TLM is the "Traditional Latin Mass" which has been celebrated since 1560's in its current form, and certainly longer than that. There way too much history on this topic for here. Books are written on the subject. Many books.
After that -- a 3 hour drive home, with a coffee shop in Scotsburg and some continued conversation with one of those friend (a camping buddy I see frequently) --- I "passed out" from exhaustion at about 9:30.

This is the first I’ve been able to get into the forum since my last post. I check a couple times a day and it just freezes.
Speaking of freezing it’s going to be in single digits in a couple of days.

Spray foam is great! I have it in the house and it’s like having a foot of fiberglass. Yes it’s expensive as I had to sell one kidney to be able to afford it.

I always liked The Andy Griffith Show! Just finished watching the first 5 seasons again. I’ve been looking on putting the spray foam in my attic. A few companies have been caught installing open cell foam which can be toxic for some individuals. Always ensure you install closed cell foam in your living areas.

Funny you caught what was on the TV. I watch mostly old reruns or old movies. Nothing new interests me. I think it’s because I don’t really sit down and watch TV. It’s just as I work.

Whats the difference between open and closed cell? I saw some reports of people haveing some really bad side effective after foam -- I assumed it was just "personalized" creation by some people.
The bad part about that -- you'dl have to move! There'd be no way to removed the 'toxic' stuff. Yikes.
I didn't notice it...but I'm with you. Young Sheldon was about the only thing that I watched that was 'recent,' and I'm not sure how the show ended. Hollywood shot themselves in the foot by having the strikes at the same time the grand plan-demic was implemented, combined, I suspect, stopped the show filming....then problems in the storyline like Geroge dying (to keep continuity to the Big Bang) combined with the 'young' actor aging out of his role.
Now I hear they are spinning off ANOTHER show about his brother. I think they are grasping at straws at that point. But, I suppose if anyone watches it, it is just a show. They made After-M*A*S*H --- why not.
I've got the entire run of Andy Griffith recorded. I used a "over the air" receivers to convert off-air into digital media files. These are stored on my home PLEX server...so I can watch on demand. If it weren't for YouTube and a few channels (like Playing With Sticks) as well as a few over-the air channels (GRIT, ME etc) I'd have no use for TV. I've tried watching a few and -- well -- they are just horrible not to mention the quantity and length of commercials.
I know the purpose of TV shows is not to entertain --- its to fill the time between ads. But just like so many things, I love seeing people get rich. Just not 'on me' and all at the same time.

Both open and closed gives off toxic fumes. The big difference is closed gives off the least because it seals itself. Closed is a much better insulation but also costs twice as much. Some banks won’t give loans on any foam. There are many other pro’s and con’s to each.
I may add open cell panels. My shop is very drafty with the garage doors.

I assume there is room to pull in car, van, camper in the area behind? That would be awesome place to work.
To be able to wrench on my vehicle while watching TV or have friends over and work on projects like that --- oh, I am filled with envy! Probably would have a flying airplane by now. Of course, it would also not be as neat and tidy -- I tend to be a 'stacker'

My 550 and van are in there along with a few mowers and snow blowers. The 560 and Outback are in the three car garage down by the house. The shop is 165 yards away. Some people, mainly women, complain it’s too far from the bathroom and don’t think it’s funny when I point to the berm.
I’m only about halfway finishing the interior and when done will be a real fix-it shop. I’m adding a propane LP stove with oven and a refrigerator. I’m halfway thinking of putting in an RV sink with holding tanks. Matter of fact how cool would the back half of a Camp-Inn trailer be! I would want to be able to close it and heat it in the winter.

Reminds me a little of Chuy's and the salsa/chip bar in the cantina...at least the store here -- I assume its "cookie cutter" decore.The ONE thing that bothers me about that place (other than post-covid menu shrinkage and portion reduction with increased prices) is that in every store, 1 tile is laid incorrectly in the floor. That causes my OCD to go in to HD.

Between the forum being down and coaching Cross Country, I haven’t been on here much lately. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Would like to add the spray foam to our attic. My father had his done and you can go in his attic in the SC summer. In mine in the summer, you’ll be soaking wet in 10 minutes. My attic has 5 windows so you get sunlight into it which doesn’t help. We did have the crawl space encapsulated this summer. Expensive, but it has cleared up some moisture issues we were having.

Must’ve seen every Andy Griffith show made many times over. All of those were on WTCG Channel 17 in Atlanta which grew to become TBS. Ted Turner had to buy the WTBS call letters from a Cambridge, MA station.
Love the man cave. Need to be build more storage here. Our 16 x 20 building is packed and we just have the Camp Inn under an aluminum carport or as I refer to it, our PBR carport. It came through the Hurricane without a scratch and does the job. I just wish I had more storage space indoors.
