Well, so there I was one way delivering an old first gen Taco to Ft Drum, with sleeping bag etc in back to camp along the way...this was about 2017 iirc...

You know how bad Google Maps was about sending you down back roads for "search on" a destination?

Try "Petrified Forest" from the west...
You get off an exit on I40 to a remainder of the old road, with empty rockhound shops, deserted fake teepee jewelry stops...faded signs from the 50's...

Ive driven Route 66 from Kansas to the the California border a few times. Once pulling a Little Guy trailer. Loved the trip and hated the teardrop. Well I loved it the first two years before it fell apart. Guess that’s why i bought a CI.

I’ve driven parts of the route through Springfield IL out to CA. Around Petrified Forest, Oatman AZ and along the Interstate where you can see the old route.

In Springfield they left some of the original cobblestone road.
