Winterizing on YouTube

I got Pttywagin washed and winterized the water system. It was an easy process. I hope to do some camping during the winter but will just carry my water instead of using the tanks. We don't get much weather cold enough to freeze the system when stored in the shop but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

 

so if gin can be used to winterize then I'd assume vodka would work as well.
I'm interested in some other medium mainly because it took *many* tanks of water before I couldn't taste the antifreeze.

so what say ye, Cary? Vodka's cheap (the brand I'd use is, for sure), mostly odorless and doesn't have the floral characteristics of gin. Could also really spice up the process.

of course, if I wanted some other flavor beside antifreeze, maybe a decent brand of scotch ...

You are correct though. Winterizing is super easy. Un-winterizing takes longer. Like you said, several tanks need to be run through to not have that taste. That is why I liked the Gin idea when I first heard it. The Vodka idea is even better.

It didn't really take very much. I could dump half the fifth in the tank and drink the other half. I guess it would be a good idea to put some food coloring in the vodka so I could see when it has run through the pump and sprayer.

 

Good thinking Pat. Makes me want to winterize my trailer even though it is parked in a heated garage!

I don't know what a Purple Cow it but if it takes vodka I'm willing to give it a try.

I just figured it is what people in WI see after drinking too much Vodka or your drink of choice...kinda like Pink Elephants for everyone else.

Maybe that is a North Carolina thing. I've never heard of that either. I'm not much of a drinker so there are probably a lot of drinks I haven't heard of.I don't mind trying a new one though.

A purple cow in New Hampshire is an ice cream float made with grape soda and vanilla ice cream. :/

 

Actually REAL Purple Jesus uses pure grain alcohol. If I remember correctly.

Reminds me of the time my Granny was really upset because her best friend was in the hospital with what Granny called, "The Smilin' Mighty Jesus."

When I pressed her to figure out what she was talking about, she described her friend having bad headaches and a fever and she had a spinal tap…

Turns out it was Spinal Meningitis.

 

The Purple Jesus I came across in college was a water glass with Grape KOOL-AID and nearly
equal amount Vodka. The Kool-Aid was the only "mix" our friend could find on hand and she liked
drinks large and strong. That variety of Kool-Aid gets a strong metallic aftertaste with alcohol.

As we twitched and shook heads side to side from the aftertaste the comment from each of us
was "Oh Jesus!" Why did we continue and finish it ??? Waste not...?
