We just realized that we are not going to be able to make it to CICO. Our son in Beijing has a week of vacation at that time and we will be traveling to spend it with him there. As great a trip as it will be, we both will miss the group in Wisconsin! Bummer. :(

disappointed not to be able to meet you both, Ken, but family trumps all and kids trump family. Enjoy! Kathy & Bob

Let me see: exploring exotic Beijing, it's ancient culture and glorious scenery with your loving son or three days in a Wisconsin campground cooking your food, using a porta potty and explaining the reason you have two of everything ever made in cast iron. Hhhhhmmmmmm.........

That's a toughie.

Sorry we'll miss you, but hell, I'd go too!

I'll have you know we have flush toilets (although it can be a bit chilly). :o

And as far as the cast iron goes, you don't have a thing to explain as most of us suffer, in one form or another, from the same illness.

That's okay...we'll forgive you this time but be sure to mark your calendar for 2013...it's gonna be a doozie! (And that's all I'm gonna say about that!)

You will have a fantastic time in Beijing!

Well if that don't beat all. I guess we will have to start our therapy next year. How you getting the CI to Beijing? Don't let them copy it!

Forgive the artistic license.

Nothing to forgive! It's the artistic license that keeps life interesting! ;)

So, keep on with the artistic license, as it has been getting very interesting.!

What's in the works for CICO 2013??!?

CICO is always a camping highlight for us. And we've told a few people we've met camping this year to think about going - and hopefully they go - they'd have a great time with this bunch!

I would love to hear about your trip, once you're back. I used to travel to Asia for work quite a bit, and never made it to Beijing (only Hong Kong and Guangzhou). I would really like to get back there with my family and see the Great Wall and a few other sites one day. Got to see lots of other parts of China though, and several other countries...not many tourists in those parts!

Enjoy your trip and family!

Thanks Sarah. We'd sure like to see a bit of the country besides Beijing as well - like you said, a chance to see more of the 'real' China. But any part of China is more than we've seen so far :) We told our son to pick a couple spots that he hasn't seen yet, so he's getting a chance to see something new as well.

My husband's Aunt and Uncle were among the first group of American tourists to visit China in the early 1970's. That trip was crystal clear in their minds to the end of their days and they talked about it constantly. The part they remembered the most was a trip up the Yangtze River, the northern end. The mountains that came down to the river were exactly as depicted in the ancient artwork. I am sure the photos did not do it justice.

I hope your time there will be just as thrilling and memorable as theirs.

AND BRING BACK PICTURES!

Sue
