Things You Forgot But Wish You Hadn't

As temporary residents of Alaska, the oddities of this state sometimes catch us off guard.

We received delivery of our 560 only days before the longest day of the year, and learned to camp with it in the summer. That included a 14 day trip where we never used a single flashlight, lantern, headlamp, or other light...because it was never dark out.

BUT, then we took a quick trip in late August for a weekend, and didn’t bring along a single - you guessed it - flashlight, lantern, headlamp, or any other light source. The sun actually went down and our cell phone flashlights got a lot of unexpected use.

Tire gauge. We had some issue with one of our trailer tires losing air pressure on our last trip. While I was inside the gas station buying a tire gauge, someone sideswiped our poor little camper and bent the driver's side fender and drove off without leaving any insurance information. There was a semi trailer repair shop across the street, and I limped the camper over there, and a couple of mechanics were nice enough to bang it out into driveable condition, but someday, I will need to replace the fender. :(
