Summer planning

Karin and I will be heading north to Glacier this summer, Wyoming on the way and Utah on the way back. Just wondering if anyone has any "don't miss this" ideas for along the way. The "way" is not set in stone so throw those ideas out! Also any campgrounds.
Finally getting snow in Steamboat and I am thinking summer......

umm.... Yellowstone? :)

Also, St. George, UT has some great things to see - Zion, Bryce, Arches...

I agree. Arches...I want to go back. I would also love to see Zion, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone, but I can't speak to them yet. It will be a while before we make it back down that way, but let us know what you decide to see and what is good to add to our future itineraries!

Happy planning!

We've been to Yellowstone, spent a week, did a photography tour..maybe not the right word..saw buf, wolves, elk and a lot of geothermal! Stopped at Tetons on the way, Arches >love Moab area, saw dinosaur tracks we could stand in, Canyonlands.... also Zion, Bryce, Natural Bridges, ..... If you are in Western Colorado, Colorado National Monument is quite nice, not as massive but great rocks.

Anyway thanks for those suggestions...... keep thinking. Jim and Sue... didn't see moose at Grand Tetons but have seen them in our front yard! along with bear and elk....

In your front yard??!!! Aw, now that's just not fair!

The only thing we see in our front yard is the neighbor's dog! Gonna have to have another talk with those owners......

Barb,

When you are coming into Glacier from the east be sure to stop at the Park Cafe in St. Mary. Home of the best pies I have ever had. Their motto "Pie For Strength" says it all. Also at the campground we once camped at a site called the Golden Staircase. It is called that due to the fact that the Grizly Bears have a golden hue and they use that campsite to enter the campground. We were assured by the rangers that the bears are mainly vegetarian but we moved anyway since we were tent camping at the time, and wanted to make sure that the bears remained vegetarian.

One of my favs in Utah is Goblin Valley State Park. The goblins are my favorite geological formation. There is also a slot canyon in the state park.

The entire state of Utah is interesting. Someday I will return there again.

Leo,
That's what I was looking for.... Pie info! Making notes for the trip. Not big on grizzlies..... once had a passerby mention loudly that Towed Hall was just a can waiting for a bear to open... then he got in his huge, gas-guzzling 5th wheel. What did he know...?
But I am trusting you on the pies!
Barb

Barb,
Those pies are so good that during our 4 day stay at Glacier we would head to the Park Cafe every morning for breakfast which of course consisted of pie, just out of the oven. Even though we did a lot of hiking I gained 4 pounds that week and I didn't regret an ounce of it.

Leo....

Just talked Karin into another day on the east side before we head west and south... so glad I did from that comment.... pie for breakfast, my favorite.

Greg - those were incredible photos! I've seen that canyon before in photos but figured it was one of those proteced places that the normal traveler wouldn't be allowed to go in.
