Rain, rain, go away

Jim and Sue L.

What's with the weather lately? Several states are in flames and now Mich is looking for anyone who knows what a cubit is and how to use it.

Seriously, all our best wishes to those in peril of Mother Nature in one of her nastier moods. Hope everyone and their families are safe.

That would also be northern Minnesota. Duluth got over 7"of rain in 24 hours. Some areas reported 10". Horrible flashing flooding. Being built on the side of a hill made things very interesting. At least the water was able to drain into Lake Superior. A small child was washed into a storm sewer & miraculously came out with only bumps & scrapes. The zoo flooded...some animals escaped...harbor seals were found swimming in the streets. The polar bear was missing initially but, thankfully, was located. Streets gave way into huge sinkholes, swallowing cars. Retaining walls washed away. Bridges are out. Quite a mess. Just south of Duluth, one of the nicest state parks, Jay Cooke, has been all but washed away & several surrounding parks have sustained extensive damage. Across the channel, Superior, WI also saw extensive flooding & damage. Lake Superior was looking pretty wild. Amazingly, no deaths have been reported.

Here are links to pics of some of the damages:

We have family in Duluth & surrounding area & thankfully, they are all safe...some are stranded but doing okay.

Mother Nature's fury can be quite impressive!

Please send rain to Indiana before my id10t neighbors bust out the fireworks and do their version of the Chicago fire.

That's funny... I didn't know my uncle moved next door to you. He always buys a bunch of pyrotechnics, tears them apart and builds one giant firework from the parts. Sort of like Dr. Frankenstein-without the brains. It's amazing he still has all his fingers and toes.

Good luck to you on the 4th.

Seems he is a likely candidate for the Darwin Awards...

You have no idea.

Maybe I should add some of those adventures with Uncle Barry to the campfire thread. These are definitely tall tales..except they're true.
