portable toilet

We're shopping for a collapsible portable toilet that fits easily in one of the storage compartments. We saw a couple at Cabelas, but weren't sure which one would store most easily. Any recommendations?

My "female" urinal comes in quite handy at 3 am!! I "hide" it behind the back tire so as not to offend any visitors that want to check out our 500 Special!

i have one from cabelas, had it for 3 years and did not use it even once, would not buy it if i were you, just my two cents

We had one of those chemical potties...and darn near choked on the fumes. Never used it. Now have a five gal. can with a seat on top. Much better and the kitty litter is the key. Just be sure to get the type that is perfume free. Some of the litter is just as bad as the old chem toilet.

You may not use it a lot, but sure is handy when you need it...especially in those areas heavily "over used", shall we say?

Yah, I have one, haven't used it yet but do have a few
Travel John.

I actually got the Chem powder somewhere else, pricey, but only need a little bit. I use Grocery bags and also got several rolls of general purpose clear 4rolls BAG Fruits and Veggies 12x20 plastic bags...

They are great and very convenient on those cold winter nights...

Cleanwaste Mini 55-Use Poo Powder Waste Treatment

it works..

heheh, sorry, probably TMI (Too Much Information)

the the prepackaged ones: Complete package WAG

I carry in the car/camper/backup supplies...

I put a plastic bag and a couple of baby diapers in the potty. Very absorbant and easy to pack and dispose of. opps sorry for the duplicate.

Take a look at the PETT system. Very compact, and perhaps one of the cleanest options out there.

I have the PETT portable toilet with individual waste bags (used in conjunction with a pop-up biffy shelter). It serves the purpose, but personally I think it is on the pricey side. As others have mentioned, it is one of those rarely needed items. Choosing a less expensive biffy than the PETT would probably serve most teardropper's well in the long run. But, if you're really keen on checking into the PETT system, I recall stumbling across a youtube video for your viewing enjoyment (don't worry, there is nothing "cheekie" about it). Okay, okay, bad biffy joke.

We got the "Go Anywhere" portable toilet system that uses the WAG bags. The whole setup was about $75. The bags cost around a dollar each, but they can be used more than once. These bags of powder encapsulate all the deposits and turn to a gel that makes sure there are no spills. It is also the ONLY system that turns out a product (bag of waste) that can be safely tossed into the trash. We set it up in th side tent and makes a big difference. We don't pick sites based on being close to the toilets any more.

Here's a review.

I also have a PETT and it works well for those times I don't want to run to the facilities, i.e. in the middle of the night or when it is raining.

Apparently, the PETT system is the exact same one as the "GO Anywhere" - except for the labeling. I wonder if PETT changed their name...?

Jenn, I'm pretty sure the floor storage compartments are the same size in both the 550 and the 560.

Being the geek that I am, I did grab dimensions of the under mattress storage (the one not currently used for the spare tire), I have 18"x15.5"x5" So it seems like it wouldn't fit... but then again it wasn't to the exact 1/16" of an inch. When I took that measurement it was more of a "about this big" type. So Jenn, if you measure, let us know what measurements you get.

So it may fit perfectly... Currently I keep a wool blanket in that space when I'm not using it. (it's warm... but bulky)

We also keep our PETT under the mattress in a storage bin, and I am even able to put a couple of towels on top, along with the bags that go with them. I took it out of the box, but the "case" fits just right!

Jenn,
I don't know about the 550,have never seen the size of the storage hole. But it fits in our 560 with room to put 10-12 of the chemical bags around it. It is not an item we use on a regular basis so with it under there is is completely out of the way until we need it. We try not to put often used items under the bed.

Evan,
They are the same. We got ours from REI. I just threw the box out the other day and it did indeed say Go Anywhere.
