Our Big Trip Out West - National Parks & Monuments

I believe we pulled “Birdie” something close to 2600 miles from Northern CA through NV, UT, WY, MT, a bit of ID and back. We visited Great Basin, Dinosaur National, a fossil quarry in WY, Grand Teton, passed through lower Yellowstone, a visit with some family in Billings, MT, and then over to Craters of the Moon in Idaho. Beautiful country out there. Already talking about returning to UT and WY.

Great Basin is beautiful. Dinosaur was amazing. Grant Teton was surprisingly crowded but had showers (!), Yellowstone was more or less a drive through on our way to MT, and Craters of the Moon was beautiful in a unique way (watching a lightning show off in the distance at 3am was amazing).

Wanted to get some pictures up.

@Midwest Duo Great trip report, awesome pics!

Those yellow lego like leveling blocks look super handy. Someone here on forum was just saying how the stove top height (compared to standard in a home) could be a little low, esp if you are tall, so these blocks under levelers are a way to both camp on soft sand plus pick up an inch or two, as well as camp easy in dispersed or county parks that arent as well groomed/level as NPS or State Parks that accomodate large RVs (that I personally want to get far away from..)

And I hope the new forum members or lurkers see how beautiful the great western states are...worth the trip. Dinosaur is a hidden secret.

PS: mostly bug free too!

Hard to overstate that if you are used to camping where skeeters "are big enough to f..k the turkeys flat footed!" -

"Tommy" in the Landman" series set in the great state of West Texas...

Wondering how the screened room tent worked for ya- Clam or Gazelle?

Thanks again!

We stayed at the Colter Bay campground. I believe it’s the Mural Room? Can’t recall but those were heavy duty pancakes!
Well, the mural room is also at the Jackson Lake lodge but they don’t serve breakfast. Only the Pioneer Grill does.

I camp at Colter Bay but definitely hang out a lot at the Jackson Lake lodge. Especially on rainy days. LoL
