Reading your 'how to' I was visioning myself as a cartoon character running around chasing poles and attaching clips (laughing like crazy)with my four-paw buddy thinking......there she goes again! I think I'll set it up in my yard for a pre-campsite prep.

I missed the sale also.Paid the going rate of $439.00 but free shipping and no sales tax through Campmor. Its a lot heavier than I had anticipated. Glad I went ahead and got it because it looks like it may take awhile to be half way proficient in setting it up. I know the poles are shock corded together but there sure seems to be a lot of metal in there.

I click on your link and it says $439.00 I put it in the cart and it is still $439.00. Short of a promo code I can't get to 380. Oh well moot point since I'm in at 439.00 anyway.

There is a pretty good YouTube video of a guy setting up a NB by himself. Its the one with his two dogs running around while he's doing it.

 

Regrettably, that video sort of skips right over the hard parts -- which Jean W. charmingly describes as "running around like a madwoman." I'm looking forward to emulating that.

 

Did my first set up of our NB. this weekend in the back yard. Now I remember why we quit tent camping! Actually it wasn't that bad. As a last resort we looked at the instructions although they wern't particuarly informative. Not real clear on the bottom bungees and the rings with the metal stakes.
Guess the poles go through these? Even with my oversights the shelter held up well all day and night with the wind gusting 15 to 20 mph. Really like the ability to open or close any or all sides. Can't wait to use it "for real" when the trailer is finsihed.

The rings with the metal spikes are inserted into the bottom of the poles. You can then hook the sides to the metal rings when you have them down.

Just another vote of confidence for the Northern Breeze. On a recent trip, we were traveling home from Nashville, after our #3 son's wedding, camping along the way. We had our #4 son in tow, so all of the gear that we normally carry in the back seat of our Tundra double cab had to be stowed in the cabin of our 550. We arrived at Smith Mountain Lake SP campground in a healthy rain storm. The rain was expected to continue for hours, so there was no choice but to set up camp, in the rain. No problem! We just donned our raincoats, quickly set up the Northern Breeze with 3 of it's awnings spread out, and backed the mcnugit under the shelter. From that point, we were able to unload the mcnugit in a dry space. The awnings kept the doors covered, and allowed extra room for the picnic table, and the Rubbermaid Action Packers, where we store more of our "stuff".
We also made good use of our REI alcove, when we set up our son's small tent underneath it, also out of the rain. When the sun came out the next day, the shelters were dry in no time, so we packed away the NB, and moved the Alcove over our galley for some extra shade. You just can't go wrong with that Northern Breeze/Alcove combo! I wonder if we could apply for royalties from Eureka! & REI?!! (This may be tooting my own horn, but if you go way back in the forum, you will find where the Northern Breeze/REI Alcove ideas originated! If only we could sell as many Camp-Inn units, then my husband could really retire!!)

We sure are glad to have this forum. I've purchased the Alcove and the NB from the reviews posted here. Have yet to use them in "the field" but have set them up in the back yard and have been very pleased. I think both units compliment the CI perfectly. Since you can't stand up in a CI I don't see how you could do with out them. Maybe they should be standard equipment. (I'd like some of that royalty action too.)

Jamie good story!

We put our Northern Breeze up in the yard last Saturday as we wanted to be sure we could still do it. It went well except I creamed my thumb pulling the elastic over the hook on the forth corner. After bleeding a bit I came up with a small dog collar put it in the elastic loop and successfully pulled the elastic over the hook and removed the dog collar -- and it worked great. If anyone else has weaker hands the dog collar is easy to snap on and off and allows a firm pull and saves fingers. It is now attached to the stuff bag so I do not forget to use it.

 

Since I don't own one yet I noticed that Doms outdoor has them on sale this weekend for $395.99

My Northern Breeze came yesterday and I successfully put it up by myself. Thanks for the great tip about the dog collar because looping those elastic loops over the last hook was the only real trouble I had!
