Maiden Voyage

Just returned from out maiden voyage to a local lake. Learned a lot! It got down to high 20s one night, definitely wished for an electric blanket! How long until I get over the "I got a grease spot in the galley!" feeling? First of many trips to come!

Hi Randy! Congratulations on your first foray into Camp-Inn camping! I can't imagine how exciting this must be!! Or maybe I can! :-) Love your question about "grease in the galley"! Wishing you lots of great adventures!

First outing is always memorable. As for the OCD tendencies, you'll eventually get to a comfort zone! What that is for you only you'll know, everyone is different of course. Once I got my first inadvertent drag mark in the galley was mine, I realized this was to be used and enjoyed, its not a sculpture to be handled with kid gloves. Even though it is a work of art, its functional art. :)

Electric blanket: there's several threads here on how to deal with cold weather. 12v car blanket on a timer is mine, when combined with a good comforter and of course good sleeping clothes. I haven't been dry camping yet in cold weather, but I have packed and never yet used... A normal, old fashioned hot water bottle. I also have a bunch of those single use hand warmers, in case I need those. Something I've thought about for dry camping, but not bought, were reusable hand warmers, where to reuse them you boil them in water for a few minutes to reset them.

Congrats on your first night. Like you I will also be wiping things down a week after our first trip out..being from Iowa we opted for the furnace, plan on some winter camping!
