Lowcountry Sc Excursion

Heading out Wednesday to continue our conquest of South Carolina State Parks. The park has a program called "Ultimate Outsider" to encourage people to visit all 47 of the parks. We are a little over half way but on this trip we should be able to knock 7 or 8 more off. What do you get for this accomplishment you ask? You get a T-Shirt and your pic on their social media sites. We are like the kids we teach, we'll do anything for a t-shirt. Additionally, you do get invited to some activities and behind the scene things. One example is the latest property the park system acquired, a house on a barrier island donated by Ted Turner. I'll check out the campgrounds where they exist and review them like I have done even if we don't camp there. Two of the parks we are going to don't have campgrounds.

We will camp at Lee State Park near Bishopville, SC and Darlington, SC. Anyone who is a NASCAR fan will know that there is a track in Darlington. Got lucky on the price as there is a summer special for this park, so we are camping 3 nights for $25. Also, got lucky with the weather which is only supposed to be in the 80s as this part of SC is usually hotter than Hades by this time of the year.

Hope you had a good trip! David had family in Bishopville and visited there often when growing up.

We will be interested in hearing your report of the campground. We have visited the park just briefly (last August) with just a drive through on the campground but it seemed like it would be a nice campground if the temperature would cooperate - our visit was definitely in the hotter than Hades territory.
