Inertia Wood Splitter

In my area of Southern California, most of the firewood available is very hard wood, e.g., eucalyptus or oak that is incredibly difficult to split with an axe. Tried out this inertia wood splitter on my last trip. Set a 6.5 inch diameter or less piece of wood into the splitter and a couple of blows from a 3-5 pound sledge and even the hardest wood splits like butter. Works great! My axe slinging days are over!

I have one of these. My wife bought it for me for Father's Day a number of years ago. She had to have it shipped from New Zealand from a company called Kindling Cracker. Randy is absolutely right though, It's the best portable wood splitter I've ever seen. My little Gerber Hatchet now gets used as a hammer (back side) to ram wood through the device. We seem to have a ton of spruce in the campgrounds here. This thing chews through the knots with ease. Whatever the brand, the design is solid! Get there!!
