My husband and I had been contemplating purchasing a teardrop camper for several years. We have camped for years, camping in the back of our Honda Element and most recently a canvas tent. It wasn't until we took a "for the heck of it" trip to Necedah that we decided to pull the trigger and ordered an Ultra 550 which will be ready for us Spring of 2015. We are already planning out next years trips, one which will take us out West to Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Thanks to all of you who post on this forum. We have learned so much. Keep on posting and we will keep on learning!

Welcome to the CI family. We too were tent campers and stumbled across this forum a few months ago. In just a short time reading what everyone has been posting convinced us to take the trip to Necedah and purchase a 560 for March delivery. Looked at other campers but after seeing the quality workmanship we were sold on CI. The wait is now the frustrating part. We are also pouring over trip ideas. Reading the trips others have taken, seeing their pictures, and recommendations of camp grounds has been a lot of help. I would recommend you do this too if you haven't already.
Today we went canoe shopping, not buying yet. Anyone tried the mad river adventure series canoe, 16 ft?
Once again, welcome.

Welcome! We have a 550 ultra on order for April and it is very exciting! Have fun planning those great adventures!
Best,
Diane

Welcome! You will love your Camp-Inn teardrop.

We ordered our 550 about a year ago, picked it up in April (in snowstorm!) and have enjoyed camping several times this summer in Minnesota and Wisconsin state parks, as well as amazing our family and friends with our perfectly designed little camper.

In four weeks, we leave for the trip out west that we began planning for when we ordered our Camp-Inn - 3 weeks through Glacier, Olympic National Park and Yellowstone and the Bighorns on the way home. We'll keep reading the forum for all the wonderful advice here.

Many thanks to all for making our teardrop adventures so much fun!

Judy, we will be in Yellowstone over Labor Day wknd, then onto Michigan, so looks like our paths won't cross. Enjoy your trip. Kathy

Kathy,

I spent a few days in UP Michigan before last year's CICO. What a beautiful place!
I spent about 60% of my UP driving time with 0 bars on the cell phone. Less settled like Cape Cod used to be.
Hope you and Bob enjoy it. I suspect the UP is home grounds for Sheila and Jeff from Oshkosh.

It sounds like you and Bob won't be driving as far to CICO this year as last year with your Alaska trip.
Bob will be able to relax more this time ;)

I still need to start planning my trip Massachusetts to Alaska to visit my niece and nephew.

Hi Dianne,

I don't have a specific Alaska plan yet, I just need to do it before my niece goes to college.

I have not been there in the summer, but I took my sister's kids trick-or-treating
in Anchorage (BRRRR), and spent a month there in January. I flew in&out both times.

Trivia question: what do they spread on winter roads in Anchorage?

Not salt most of the time. Dirt and Sand !!!
Salt doesn't really work below 10 or 15 degrees...
Dirt is friendliest to cars, concrete, and streams and really does help when cold.

I saw a 20ish guy riding bike in a teeshirt on a packed snow covered city 4-lane
one sunny 20F day.

Wow WEEE Dick and Judy, That is an ambitious trip. So much to see. So little time. By all means come over the North Cascades on Hwy 20. Guaranteed you will not regret it. If your destination it the Oly you can continue on hwy 20 to Whidby Island and then take the ferry to the Olympic Peninsula.
