Weather.com had us at a 30% chance for rain today. Usually a good sign to get out and enjoy the sun. I made some major headway on a new back yard deck, and then, 20 minutes after getting the tools put away and halfway into beer #2, the blessed rains came. As most of you know, we needed it badly. And what a show it has been, with tons of lightning and thunder like a fireworks show, all while the sun was shining. Chicago's high was 98 or 99 with a heat index of around 112. Not the best day for outside work, but we're off to Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat'l. Lakeshore tomorrow for a few days of camping, kayaking, and swimming in Lake Michigan...

I second Kathy! We are camping this weekend, which means we will be getting more rain. Maybe we should make our way out to you. I am pretty sure it follows me around...kind of like Eeyore. I am just a lot happier than he is, and less purple (most of the time!).

If it is any consolation, I just heard we have lived through the wettest June on record. And the last 2 years we have broken more of those records. We would be happy to share some of this weather if we could and get some semblance of summer back. I have tomatoes I want to ripen and it is tough with this weather!
