First night in our raindrop

Williamsburg VA, Some of the stuff we learned our first three nights in our raindrop:

1. Temps in the 20'S at night ...an old space heater with no thermostat will keep you warm but you need to get up every hour or so to turn it on for ten minutes or less before you roast. ....Solution: brandy new $18.50 ceramic space heater with themostat from wallymart.

2. So how bad is the snow at your campground? (We took mcnugit's advice and called ahead) "Roads are clear only a little ice at the entrance' ......... translates into we plowed your campsite there is two to three inches on the ground and your walk to the bath house is also covered in snow and ice.

3. The water on top of the sunroof will immediately fall on your wife when opened ! This makes for interesting conversation in the morning.

Overall we had a blast. temps were 50+ during the day. We will put her in storage until we go to Florida in Feb.
 
I was wondering if you two braved the frigid weather. I guess the thrill of the new Raindrop got the better of you! Glad to hear you had fun though, and hope you had your Sham-wow's handy for wiping up condensation, and the water from the sunroof mishap!!
We also use a little electric space heater with a thermostat, but have added an electric heated mattress pad, just for comfort. Very nice to crawl into a warm bed, and with two thermostats, we can each control temperature to where we want it.

Curious to hear which campground you stayed at? We are always looking for options for a quick getaway!

This reminds me of the story my parents tell about the night they had a dual control blanket with the controls backwards - things got miserable and miserabler. :)
 
We couldn't resist going camping with the weather being half decent. We stayed at American Heritage RV Park www.americanheritagervpark.com just west of Williamsburg. The campground was fine, Showers were hot and bathrooms clean. There was a hiking trail but with the snow and ice we passed. Overall we thought is was fine but than again we have nothing to compare it to. Very happy we went. Lots of laughs as we fumbled about setting up and tearing down. The shake down cruise gave us a lot to think about before our next adventure. :confused:
 
Yah, winter camping, a whole new set of routines... but fun and worth it if you're warm.. fun..
 
One prime rule of winter camping is never to use the yellow snow as your cooking water supply, I did that once while on a backpack and my wife has never forgiven me.

We keep our house pretty cool, 63. Just for fun we swap the controls in our guest room when we have company. The mind is a dangerous toy!
