Dometic white wire insert in cooler

Hi! We just got our Dometic CF-35. I am wondering why the wire rack in the compartment doesn't have a bottom? What is it for? Thanks for any feedback!

"Includes a coated wire grid divider to keep foods from adhering to the interior walls."

Thanks, Al and Cathy. While I'm at it, what temp do you normally set? The default is 41 degrees. Normal refrigerators recommend 35. I suppose it is trial and error, but I'm wondering if there's a "sweet spot" where things stay safely cold without freezing. Thanks.

I think a lot of people agree that 32° is a good number.
Put the things you want colder at the bottom.

I set for 3 or 4 (C, of course)

I think if you set for 0/32, the items at the bottom would freeze, but maybe that is not what most have experienced

and maybe humidity is a factor?

Mine is set 32 to 34. Milk will freeze, frozen meat thaws. Ice cubes melt Keep meat double bagged on bottom, perishables on top. Soda on the bottom will freeze when popped open.

One of the best investments I have ever made.

32, arranged so things you want frozen are on the bottom.

Arrangment is tricky because cold does not distribute well in these things, even the fridge fans don't seem to help much (and take too much space). I want a 3d printer to make my own :(

Regardless, for camping this is an awesome investment. No more running to the camp store to buy ice. No more soggy sammiches.

My earliest camping memory is going fishing with my dad....a styrofoam cooler with lunch packed inside, Ice, a mason jar of milk, and salami sandwiches in zip lock bags. Cold, yes. Safe, I'm here. Taste, white bread. Texture, ... I can't find a word.

Wih the dometic it's more like beef brisket, bottle of (ahem) root beer, fresh salad, roasted potatoes.

No comparison. I am glad we bought it when we did....great investment. Camping, civilized.
