Advice For Quick Trip To Lake Arrowhead

On Saturday, we will be the proud new owners of Ken & Marie's #876 560. Since we'll be picking it up in Redlands, CA, we would like to visit our friends who live near Lake Arrowhead before we head back to Tucson. My question is two-fold: Campground recommendations around Lake Arrowhead? and Should we go by way of HWY 38? (Or what is the least treacherous route from Redlands?)

While #876 has brakes, we won't have the Autowbrake controller installed until after we return, so we want to make sure we will be safe heading up (and down) the mountain this weekend. Our TV is a 2012 Subaru Outback. We are ready to go with the 7-pin connector.

My wife (Terri) grew up at Lake Arrowhead and she took me up there a few times. She said Hwy 18 to 38 is your best route. She said there used to be 2 small campgrounds in that area. We really like Allstays App for searching for campgrounds. Enjoy your trip!

Two of my favorites are Green Valley Lake Campground and Barton Flats. Barton Flats is right on the 38. I much prefer the 38 to
the 330 for going up the mountain. Serrano Campground is closer to Big Beat. Never been there but heard good things.
