Heheh... Jenn, Geesh... need slo-mo just to stay with him, but more importantly????

What's it do?? doesn't blow up? doesn't move around... just moves a needle on a gadget... I'm thinking Volcano here or a bottled Tornado... kewl... stay tuned.. heheh..
along with, of course, the Pepsi & Mentos things.. still have 2 bottles left from last time...

But thanks for the heads up.. I would need about 10 espressos just to keep up with him.. LOL...
    fun...

Bad news, apparently someone read the police report from last year and rejected our request for reservations for Mossyrock’s group camp site. I guess that is what happens when someone brings explosives into camp and Jenn gets out of control. It did not help that someone already had the spot reserved for 8/15 through 8/18. In any event we need to change dates or find a different venue. Fwiw, the earliest you can make reservations for Mossyrock is January first and we sent our reservations in on January 8th.

I would welcome some suggestions here. Anyone know of some secret group camp?

Are Mentos considered an explosive these days? Sheesh! They are really cracking down! :)

It was the Mentos and the copper and rubber pipe bombs, remember those? Good thing no alcohol was involved. Sarah, any other dates work for you in August?

    These are Great suggestions.

Potholes is a great park but I bet it would be pretty warm in August. There seems to be a few group camp options. It is a strange park with a real formal layout away from the lake and a rabbit warren type setup near the lake.

It does not look like Lewis and Clark Trail normally takes reservations, but they will for the two group campsites. It will be a lot cooler in August than potholes. There is a fabulous cheese operation nearby http://www.monteilletcheese.com/farm-stay/ and if you like wine this is the area. Both Waitsburg and Dayton are interesting places, best restaurants east of the mountains. Only down side is that it would be quite a drive for most.

5 hours would be a bit more than I would like to drive for a weekend.

One place I thought of that would be more central and just off a main artery is Champoeg State Park. Might be able to draw some of the NoCal people up too!

Here is a list of the state Parks with group sites in Oregon:
    http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/Pages/groups.aspx

The Deschutes River Campground looks great too. They have several group sites it looks like, and they are right on the river. Wonder if we could talk them into renting to us. Better not give them our references from last year! :)

Oh, and I checked out the Silver Falls group sites last year and with the fencing they have up, I don't think they will work for us.

For me, we are open the last 3 weekends of August. Laddy and I are leaving Mick home the first two weekends. As much as we want to be there, go with the group consensus on what works though. We will do our best to be there.

The views of Mt Hood from Timothy are beautiful - you are right there. Many of the classic Mt Hood photo's you see are from there.

I'm game... but maybe we should reserve an extra night and make it a 3 dayer... for those that come from WA/CA.

I'd love to do Mt Hood.

Potholes is a little "Bland" IMNSO. Have been there twice.

Another spot, maybe on the coast or along the river, like Crow Butte They have a BBQ & Wine thing or Maryhill State Park just up the river a bit. Plenty of Wineries out there... Not a clue on group spots, but would have to book early if doing the wine weekend...

but not seeing group RSVP so maybe not...

Deschutes looks good too, will try to get there before the BKTs do and will post photos..

oh, they, Crow, do have group rates, over 15?

Group Camping (Over 15) in primitive campground: $60.00 / per day (probably up on the hill, joking)

Sarah, Pine Point campground looks interesting; can’t beat the location. There are no hookups but that does not seem to be a problem with this group. It is a bit over 4 hours from Seattle. I cannot find any details about the group camp site other than it will accept a lot of campers. I am not sure how the group site would handle a horde of trailers. I guess we can call and find out.

I'm at the campsite online now... not seeing a "Group Per se".. but just spots that take more cars..

    http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgroundMap.do

Using the campsite link previously mentioned, there are a few others in the Mt Hood area. It doesn't list Pine Point oddly enough..
    http://www.campingroadtrip.com/campgrounds

    Searched Mt Hood, 25 miles..

I did find it here, didn't see anything for Tim...

Ok, I'm done, just looking forward to the outing..

Frank, it might be listed under Timothy Lake.

Even though Pine Point campground looks like a very nice venue, I don’t thinks this is going to work for us. The setup for group camping is like other Forest Service campgrounds; group sites are just a normal campsite that have double or triple the capacity. There are 4 to 5 “group” sites each allows 18 or so people and 4 cars. They are all pull throws and not really designed for RV’s or trailers. The sites are primarily for a lot of tents. Each site is $50 a night and have no hook ups. These sites can be reserved on line and there does seem to be openings in August. It is a very heavily used campground.

I think I will keep looking, with the Super Bowl coming up; perhaps I can get out and check some sites out that weekend.

So Steve, how was the drive this weekend? Did you find any prospective places for us? :)
