SOLD 2011 Raindrop Ultra #445 - Beaverton, Or

not really. Changed the oil every 6-8k, rotate tires every 5-7k. I do try to make sure that the trailer brakes are adjusted correctly. We sold that car with 215000 miles on it and never had to replace the brakes or clutch. I was sad to see it go but the emissions warranty was about to run out.
We replaced it with a 2019 Alltrack, manual trans. It also does a good job towing but not as good as that diesel.

Gotcha. I've heard from a few Alltrack owners now that it doesn't have quite the spark of the TDIs. How about a 4WD TDI Sportwagen with the Alltrack suspension? I can dream, can't I...?

If I keep care of this Sportwagen as well as I hope to, by the time I hit 200K miles I should be able to find a suitable electric car to replace it...

Hello all, thanks for the kind welcome. I'm happy to be the new owner of Far Fars.

I've finally put up a thread in the Meet & Greet to say what all I've been up to since the purchase.

Dustin, the TV is a 2013 TDI 6-speed manual. I've had great luck with it so far, how about you?
Nice to hear from another TDI enthusiast!
Our 2007 550 Ultra has been towed by a 2005.5 Jetta TDI to start with, and now a 2015 Passat TDI, both with manuals (Jetta 5 speed, Passat 6 speed). Neither car had any problem pulling the TD, and both averaged right around 32-34 mpg when towing and about 45-52 when not, depending on terrain etc. The only thing I've found is that since our TD doesn't have brakes, I have to plan my braking a little more so than when not towing, , but that isn't too difficult.
I like the TDI's enough that when I heard that VW was going to quit selling them in the USA because of the dieselgate issue, I bought a second 2015 Passat. I'm hoping that by the time I have them worn out there will be enough advancement in electric alternatives that they will be the obvious replacement, and as quickly as those advancements seem to be happening, it may be available before I wear them out.
Enjoy!
