1st trip of 2020 - Hallelujah!

Illinois opened campgrounds this Friday so we did our civic duty and are now spending a long weekend at the Kickapoo Recreation Area near Danville. Weather is perfect - mid to upper 70's for highs and around 50 at night.

We are headed to Maine in Sept. and Kickapoo was on my short list for our first night stay. The other campground was Moraine View SRA outside of Bloomington, just an overnight stop, please pass on your opinion of the campground..thanks...Ron

Congrat's on your first trip of the season.

I think I got lucky where I'm at, but (overall), I'm glad to see the corona virus thing winding down in other parts of the country too.

Ron, it's a great spot with several loops. Plenty of electric sites (the maps in the truck now or I'd give you how many), bathroom facilities are fine. They JUST improved the roads and site pads, like earlier this week by the looks of it. Sites have some space between them, some more than others.
I know you're not going to be staying long, but you can bring your kayaks, bikes, and get some nice hiking in as well.
We have stayed here 3 or 4 times and have found the crowd to be a pleasant mix of families with kids and oldsters like us.
I give it a solid thumbs up.
