We just finished an adventure at Razorback Lake, WI taking us over 100 nights. We live near Green Bay and have ventured north, south, east and west with #873 “AJ” purchased in March 2017. We traded in our high-mileage Ford Edge for our Ford Explorer last fall, more to accommodate growing grandkids than space needed for camping.

Our maiden voyage was to Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area in KY in April 2017. What a fun way to learn how to transition from 40+ years of tent camping to the luxury of our 560 Raindrop! We loved its convenience and comfort.

We’ve posted three long haul adventures and our first 25,000 miles to southwest USA, Nova Scotia CN and west to the Rockies. We love camping in national forests and national parks, although we found our site in Yellowstone to be just a few feet wider than our trailer with no privacy except our alcove over the galley. We found a free city park site near Columbus, MT and stayed at our first KOA site in Lava Hot Springs, ID right along the river and quite vacant in September. We were the only campers in a gravel lot campground the nights before and after we took a jet-boat tour in Hell’s Canyon, Idaho. Many state parks, state forests and a couple of private campgrounds fit the bill for our needs.

We’ve met so many great people, and find we get the most attention among RVers with giant fifth-wheels or motor coaches. In Arizona, we drove into Fool Hollow Recreation area with concrete roadways and campsite pads. As Ron was backing the trailer into our site we had several spectators watching us arrive. He got them laughing when he said, “Wait until we inflate it!” Overall, folks are impressed with the quality construction of our trailer, as are we.

Our most frequent spots have been northern and southwestern Wisconsin, close enough for a few days’ stay whether spontaneous or planned. Franklin Lake, Razorback, Governor Dodge, Devil’s Lake, Mirror Lake, Yellowstone Lake – all gems of the state park/state forest/national forest system.

We’ve been keeping a journal of our travels since retiring in 2013. It’s fun to look back on New Year’s Eve to remember the places, adventures and people we experienced that year. With “AJ” we found we camped 44 nights in 2017, 42 nights in 2018 and 17 nights so far this year, with upcoming adventures in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia plus CICO this fall.

No photos to share with this post, but they’re out there in our other posts. Lovin’ life!

Yes, let's connect at CICO. Unless we see you in Banff or Glacier mid-September - we'll be there, too.
