Compact Full-duty Can Opener

Discussion in 'Other Gear & Equipment' started by Steve and Karen, Apr 1, 2024.

  1. I'm a sucker for any kitchen gear that is under-sized, compresses, folds, lays flat or collapses. And allows you take even more stuff to fill up the same space to the brim that you were trying make more room in.

This works very well and has decent ergos, given its small size:

Got it at REI during a one night getaway in Rochester.

P38: undersized, folds, lays flat, terrible ergonomics.

I like this one. It’s big enough to get the job done and has no moving parts.

NICE!!! The old P-38 still beats it for compactness, but certainiyl is missing the mark in terms of "ease"

Plus ya need like five of them cuz ya lose one after another they are so dinky. Unless ya wear on a chain with dogtags.

I just use my jackknife for those tasks.

If you do wear dog tags, you never lose them because the P38 is embedded in your chest. I used to have an old one that was in my family for some time—service used? Probably, but I don't know for sure. Its disappeared in one of several moves.
