Another Article On State Parks

Earlier I shared an article from the NYT on state parks. This article is from the same author and is an interesting read on the diversity that is out there in the state parks of the 50 states. As we are now near the end of our quest to complete the South Carolina State Park circuit, I found this article today. SC's Ultimate Outsider Challenge to encourage people to visit all the parks has been interesting. My hometown is in almost the far western corner of the state, so without this challenge I doubt I would have seen most of the parks or evernsome parts of the state other than driving past them to get to the coast. We have found places we want to go back to spend more time in and met a lot of nice people too. There are more people attempting this in the state, there are even a few who have completed multiple times and one who came from New England do it. The reward besides a T-Shirt and a pic with a ranger at the park you complete your challenge that is posted on social media. Go like South Carolina State Park system on whatever social media platforms because we hope to complete this challenge this week and we should be on there. We are down to 2 parks and one is 25 minutes from the house and the other a little over an hour from us. For the SC challenge it does open an additional challenge, this year is 19 in '19. From what I understand, for that they will give 38 possibilities, but you only have to do 19 of them to complete that second challenge. One of them is a gathering of Ultimate Outsider finishers at one of the parks.

We have really enjoyed your camping destination submissions. A few years ago my wife was number 1 on a Florida State Parks Geocaching Challenge.

 

The 2 we have left on this State park challenge both have campgrounds and I think there are 2 from the beginning that I did not do reviews of the campgrounds so I'll go back and do those too. Hoping to get down into Florida some in the next couple of years. With us both being teachers, we have time at Christmas time to get down there.
