Cleaning screen on ceiling fan

We camped in Nebraska last week and the cottonwoods were blowing. Now the fan screen on the ceiling fan has some detritus on it.

Does the screen pull out for cleaning? Is there some sort of release?

Thanks in advance.

I see where there is a little indent for my finger to slip under. I pull at it there and it doesn't budge. I am concerned that I will break it.

Any 'master hints'?

I'd say to see if you can get a bit of a gap started at the indent, then use your other hands finger tips to see if you can coax it off by slowly expanding the gap around the perimeter. Unless they changed their design that should be all that's needed.
Good luck.

I just vacuum it with the shop vac. I attach one of my house vacuum brushes to the shop vac’s hose. You do have to take the screen off to clean the blades.

Update:

I finally had the courage to apply more downward pressure on the screen this spring and I got it to come off. You definitely have to have the courage of your convictions to remove this screen.

I do wonder if as the plastic frame ages whether it will become brittle. Anyone with a more "vintage" model have insight?

Ours is an '08 and we have had no problems removing and replacing the screen.
