This recipe can be used in a slow cooker, thermal cooker or in the oven.
Roast AuGraten (in thermal cooker)
1 chuck roast (in thermal cooker, a small one) - cut into 2 pieces, season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder and sear in small amt. of oil and set aside. (searing is optional - I happen to like it.)
In inner pot of thermal cooker, place peeled potatoes, small baby carrots, dried chives and onion chopped in chunks.
1 Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup and water to cover all veggies.
Bring to a boil, put hot meat in pot with veggies or place in and bring to a boil. Cover immediately and place inner pot inside outer pot. Leave for about 8 hrs. When you open it up and place on your plate, sprinkle grated cheese on top. (The cheese makes it so much better!
In a regular oven, I put usually a 3.5 lb. chuck roast with no salt, but pepper and garlic and onion powder in a roasting pan with about 1" of water, uncovered in a 350 degree oven will 1/2 way done.
In a large bowl I have all veggies and 2 cans cream of mushroom soup with dried chives all mixed together and seasoned heavily with salt and pepper. I turn the roast over, season it with salt, pepper and other powders and make sure there is at least 1" of water (add as needed.) I place all veggies around the roast, cover it and cook until everything is done. Take it out, sprinkle cheese all over it and cover for 5 mins. till cheese is melted. YUMMY!
