Raindrop craft!

Morning!

Today's activities include installing at least one door screen on Birdie, and deciding what to do with a loosely adapted cross stitch project. Pillow? Wall-hanging?

The weather is gorgeous, which argues for me to get outside and work on the screen install, right?

HAHA --- I have been working on some 3d printed parts for a project I am working on -- I swear I looked at this and though "How'd they get that many colors on a print?"

Oh, I need a new hobby...

That though NEVER ends well.

My son is a 3D printing maniac! He made this key chain for us for Christmas. I don't know how to change a given piece of software but if he could make a Camp-Inn version I bet he could sell quite a few!

Now, my main hobby is quilting. Maybe I'll add designing a CI style pattern to my UFO (unfinished object) projects!

I hate the phrase "game changer" but 3d printing very much is that! I've printed several brackets for Serenity - not to mention making specaizlied tools that I can't buy anywhere else. For example, Airstreams, the beauty in them is skin deep. The city water connector is 4 screws drive through aluminum that is .030 thick without a backer plate. So a good hard pull will rip the hose right off the side of the camper tearing the skin.

I was able to design a backer plate that I can use machine screws through those existing holes. The new screws have something to bite. WHy they didn't make something like this I don't know except it would cost them another $1 to make. This design took me about an hour to do mostly becuase I was using a new software package (onshape) than I had used before. Pretty amazing.

Print time - about an hour I think. If I needed them bulk I can off-shore my design to a true manufacturer that would make them for a fraction of my cost.

For prototyping or one-off solutions....there is nothing better.
