All of a sudden a I have to log in each time a I open the forum even though I check the “Keep Me Logged In” box. Anyone else notice this? Could be my aging IPad.

Sounds like it may be a setting in your browser that got changed somehow? Just a guess in my part.
 
It sounds like your device is not storing cookies or browsing in private mode.
