Here is a photo of one of my doormats. It is made of 1" X 2"s on edge and is 14" X 18". It is all glued and nailed. With half the length under the TD, one can put their shoes under cover for the night. No dew, no rain and no dirt in the TD. They float if a puddle gets too deep and they double as a great shower floor. I've even used them when I need to be 3" taller. When you are ready to go, a quick swipe with a whisk broom and they are ready for packing up.
By the way, the best camping tool that I have found is a whisk broom. From picnic tables to wheel chocks.
