    About those solar generators

Based on those photos you definitely should not buy the extension you linked to above. The one Dustin linked to is what you need.

Where are you going in 2026?

I've been to Moab a few times but always stayed in a hotel. I've been wanting to go back for a while now but haven't yet. The parks in that area are just beautiful.

    Electric bike

I have a 1UP bike rack that I use. It tows nicely behind the 560 and it tows just on the car for local riding. I purchased a ramp for the rack which is worth it's weight in gold for transporting my 55 lb ebike. Whether behind the 560 or just behind the car, it's very convenient rolling the bike...

Where are you going in 2026?

I was there in 2016. I think 89 is the only way in and out. And until they have gas in the park again I think Jacob’s lake is the nearest gas to the campgrounds. Just another reason I’m doubtful they will open it up to habitation next summer.

Where are you going in 2026?

395 runs up and down the Eastern Sierra with all kinds of great places to see and camp depending on your preference and time of year. But if you’re entering California from I80 aren’t you already going south to get to CA? I can give you details along 395 if you decide to spend some time there...

    About those solar generators

If the panel has MC4 connectors off the back this would definitely be the right one depending on length and gauge preference.

Where are you going in 2026?

The north rim will be evaluated in April before the government decides what may or may not open. It would be nice if the campground opened but I’m doubting it will. Pretty sure they’d need utilities to have employees on site.

    About those solar generators

Personally I wouldn’t buy a long extension without an MC4 on one end. But you really have to ask yourself what else you may use it for. If your panel has MC4 connectors already then the one you linked to isn’t going to work.

Where are you going in 2026?

I thought I'd throw this out there to see where people may be going and perhaps to inspire others. This morning I booked the Lower Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley for the last week of April. From mid May through the first week of June I will be splitting time between Mammoth Campground...

    Electric bike

I take one camping on some trips just to get around the grounds and short legal roads. Be aware there are limitations on the class of e-bikes allowed as well as where they can or cannot be ridden in national parks and forests. As a general rule ebike with throttles are much more restricted than...

Announcement If We Make It To December…

It reminds me I should probably head back there again. It’s Tuttle Creek Campground on BLM property in the Alabama Hills of the Eastern Sierra. I’ve used it as a final overnight on the road when returning home from my trips to Wyoming and Idaho. It’s beautiful there.

Fridge / Cooler New portable fridge options for Camp-Inn

I'm not sure anybody can tell you that but if you compare the specs on them to the Dometic that used to be offered through CI, that should tell you. That Dometic fit right to the edge. No extra space.

    About those solar generators

My Victron built in solar charger requires cellular for app firmware updates but it works on Bluetooth anywhere. And firmware updates can be delayed without interfering with its usage.

First 27 nights: Some questions and impressions

This stuff will work too. Can be found at many local bicycle shops as well as Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Tri-Flow-TF0021060-Superior-Lubricant-Bottle/dp/B0002ITTK2/?th=1

    About those solar generators

I'm not a big fan of the Ecoflow solar panels. Although I'm not familiar with the Anker panel it looks to have a 16 bus bar panel which is a better and newer technology and may pull in a few more watts in the same conditions. Additionally, The Anker sogen is their latest generation whereas the...

    About those solar generators

Those are kilowatt hours not amp hours. But maybe a 2 KWh one could do the job for you? They aren't much more $$ than the 1KWh ones but weigh about 45 lbs vs 25-27 lbs for the 1KWh unit. If you don't plan to carry them around for camping 2KWh might be a good deal.

    About those solar generators

Yeah, the improvements in the technology since I bought my first sogen and solar panel 5 years ago are pretty remarkable. Learning what does and doesn’t work for you is also pretty helpful. ;-) I ended up buying a 350 watt portable solar panel the other day because it is so much better than the...

First 27 nights: Some questions and impressions

Regarding the door locks, one of mine quite locking on a trip earlier this year. After discussing it with Cary, the fact was, the only solution was to replace the whole mechanism which are only sold in pairs. Since the inside locks work fine and since I don't lock the outside doors at camp...
