Maiden Voyage for our 550 Ultra

If the dates are on the calender before other stuff clutters it up, some of us Californians would love an excuse to head up north! i.e., I already know the first 2 weeks of August would not work. Eileen

It just wasn't meant to be...

I've done the finger tendon thing. Not fun. But then again, I did it the Wed before Thanksgiving with ALL my in-laws coming and staying at our house for 5 days.......Tim had to take charge and I got to be a princess on the couch. Bad stuff happens, but the timing can make you smile. But...

    Business Cards

Business cards would have been great this past week! We were in SE Arizona, at a birding festival. Since we were with relatives, we stayed at the Holiday Inn and did not bring the CI. BUT -Tim wore his CI and Lake Perris Gathering T-shirts out birding. People stopped and asked if we had a...

    Newbie Wannabee

We don't even try to back in to the garage or a campsite. We just pull up, unhitch and push it in exactly where we want it! The advantage of a tear , is that even an out of shape 50+ female (me!) can maneuver it easily! This has taken ALOT of stress out of our travels! Eileen

    Creepy Crawlers

Yep, and it keeps us entomologists employed! Eileen

    dish towel

McNuggit -Have you had a chance to field test your hooks?? The cup hooks I used need an upgrading, and this looks like a better solution. While I appreciate Hilditch's aesthetic concerns, I prefer to have the towels ready for use at eye level. Perhaps, the bungee cord would be a good place to...

    Portable Toilets

Jim, Tim denies the episode ever occurred. The raccoon denies it too. Don and Sue, Thanks for the info on the PETT. Its just what we need for our earthquake supplies (and the Save the Raccoon league insists we take it camping from now on....)

    Portable Toilets

Since we had "the wet mad raccoon in the bushes" episode last trip, I think we are also in need of help! And thus can offer no help. The lady teardrops thread was soooooo funny! I am a field biologist and have mooned Camp Pendelton on more than one occasion, so my perspective is not the...

    Hello from Georgetown, TX

While on our last camping trip, a guy stopped by to look at our 550. He said that this is what he REALLY HAD WANTED, but his wife insisted on something bigger. He kept looking and as he left, his comment was "its built even better than it looks on the web, this is what I had really wanted"...

    UT Moab Campsites

Re: Good campground near Moab, UT? The Sulpher Works, near the south entrance is a must! Easy, handicapped accessible, short walk -1/4 mile ish. Lots of small fumeroles, mud pots and stinky sulpher fumes. Perfect to impress a 7 year old! The Bumpass Hell walk is longer to a more impressive...

    UT Moab Campsites

Re: Good campground near Moab, UT? My mother is living in Red Bluff, just down the hill from Lassen NP. She says the road through the park was just opened a week ago, and there is snow! There are Forest Service campgrounds at Lake Almanor that we camped at all the time in my high school years...

    Eureka Screen Tent

Hilditch, I too hate the zippers! The side tent was on my side one night of the 20. Besides the zippers, I hate looking out my window and seeing grey tent. Tim, on the other hand, LOVES the tent -he likes to stand to dress and have a place to put stuff. So the tent will always be on his...

    UT Moab Campsites

Good campground near Moab, UT? We've stayed at Dead Horse Point. Beautiful, but HOT, HOT , HOT. I believe there was electricity. We were in a tent at the time and wilted, not make that melted. No pool, swimming etc. as it is on a high mesa top.... Let me know if you find the perfect camp as...
