Dead battery on new tow vehicle

yep, replying to a very old thread. Jean W, how did this all finally play out for you? Hoping everything is working now.

Pull Ci Into Garage Using A Winch/come Along?

this is a very timely question, I'm in a similar situation, and have contemplated doing similar stuff myself. Not sure why it wasn't obvious to me, but a powered trailer valet thing seems to be a smart option. At least for me, its not the hardware. I have an awesome winch on my Scout (tow...

    Mr. Heater Little Buddy

Thank you, I appreciate the reply. I certainly don't feel bad or out of place, but just acknowledging that my wants/needs/preferences seem to be somewhat unique among many of the other members here in this forum. When I went to go and look at my 550, I was potential buyer #2, but the 1st...

    A Little Winter Maintenance

Amen Just because it worked/continues to work for me doesn't necessarily mean its a good idea. Always buy quality. With very few exceptions, I get what I paid for.

Tech on the Road Maxing connections for cell/wifi

I carry (2) cell phone. My personal iPhone with ATT carrier and my $WORK iPhone with Verizon for a carrier. Its not that I'm interested in working remotely, but its my general experience that Verizon has more towers/better coverage than anyone. OTOH, my recent trip from Texas to Utah/Arizona...

    Mr. Heater Little Buddy

No, I did not, as my 550 is not equipped with water tanks or any plumbing or sink. Full disclaimer and hoping I'm not sticking my foot in my mouth or "grinding anyone's gears" here. That out of the way, those are just not things I'm interested in having in my 550. even those table-top...

    Mr. Heater Little Buddy

I just did a 2400+ mile winter trip (early December 2021) with my 550 + 1970 IH Scout tow vehicle, which included crossing the rocky mountains twice. I have an electric ceramic heater (which worked well), although after high recommendations from several friends in the colder area's, I...

    A Little Winter Maintenance

I ended up replacing the entire wheel+jack assembly. The OEM one wasn't broken or defective, but it just had a significant amount of play in it. I have a NT (Northern Tool) just a couple miles away, and replaced it with a unit that looks almost identical, and at least currently has...

    A Little Winter Maintenance

Unfortunately, my 550 has to live/be stored outdoors. I use the stabilizers to elevate my 550 to both keep the tires off the ground, and also to allow for room to put wheel covers over the wheel/tires, which limit UV exposure.

    Front wheel jack

Hello Bill, thank you for that note. I'm on the south coast, and not likely to drive to Indiana for polishing on my 550. Probably the unwritten part of this is you know/are buddies with James, but are you suggesting that a call to James might prompt him to spill his processional Camp Inn...

    Front wheel jack

Believe me, I would if I could. Could you possibly elaborate on that one further please? Regardless of post here by many, aluminum does not patina like an old neglected truck, it just turns to white powder. I've yet to achieve a mirror like finish on my Camp Inn like I see on many Air Stream...

    Favorite Leveling Blocks?

if that is for me, yes, I understand. But to date, and FWIW, I've never detached or had a need to detach from my tow vehicle. These (Camp Inn and most tear drops) are so small and light, it makes them very pilferable, so I've never detached my Camp Inn from my tow vehicle while out and about.

    Favorite Leveling Blocks?

I haven't seen that as much in Texas, but I'm still a tent camper also, and I've noticed that a lot more in some of the more western states. Forced to walk a bit of a distance from the vehicle and forced to set up a tent on a concrete pad. My 1st thought is what are these people thinking. But...

    Front wheel jack

@Sweeney, Thank you for the note. Location is the very NW corner of Lewisville. Wish I had garage space, but I do not. My 550 has always had to live outside, but so far no problems. Wish I had garage space for it, but that isn't going to happen for me. Mine does not have AC nor a sink or...

Update Seeking Tips About Camping With A Dog

We've got a 550, so you've already got more room than me. We acquired an (underfed) 55 Lbs rescue dog that has now stabilized at a (vet approved) 65-70 Lbs. Me + wife + puppy all sleep comfortably, with a personal trick. That trick is to get in, get covered up, then, once covered up to...

    Favorite Leveling Blocks?

After reading this post, I feel like I'm clearly either doing something wrong, or just missing out on a lot of good stuff that everyone else here in this thread is finding. I've somewhat bragged about my 4x4 SUV tow vehicle, and several off road trips where we've taken our 550 deep off road...

    Creased Bumper

I'm doing that with my 550, but not that long, I believe my extension only gives me an extra foot. Still, I'll take what I can get. The shorter the trailer, the more difficult it is to back up. Good tip.

    Front wheel jack

Because I have no other place for storage, my 550 is in my back yard when not in use. I have/use 1'*1'*3" bricks. I keep the back end elevated using the OEM jacks, and with the jacks sitting on the bricks that are earlier described. I also have/use another brick for the tongue jack wheel...

Wheel Bearing Maintenance Based On Time (or Mileage)

This thread has kind of petered out, and I'm going to poke it one last time before I just let it go. First, thank you all for the replies that I have received here, I do appreciate everyone's input and comments. But what I'm getting is that everyone here does a pretty good job of tracking...
