    REI Alcove vs. REI InCamp

The Northern Breeze is a bomb shelter. It protects you from bugs, rain, wind, cold and annoying neighbors if you close all the flaps. It is not a good hot weather shelter. It takes about as much effort to put up as an Alcove. Both can be setup by one person if they know how to choreograph...

Wells Gray Provincial Park, BC, Canada

I am not sue about trains, there appears to be one at Elbe/Mineral; however, I have never taken it. Mount Rainer NP is fairly close to Mossyrock, so is Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens (the east side of it). We went to Paradise with Jennifer last year, no chance of a hike then but there should...

Itinerary 3rd Annual Nw Camp-inn Round Up

We got a private tour of the two dams just before they started taking them down. We spent a day talking to those involved with the project and it seemed like their biggest worry was with the sediment. The scientists could model it all they wanted but it seems that they just did not have enough...

Daryle, the dams have been removed, so there is nothing to see. If you want to see a dam, come on down to Mossyrock.

Itinerary 3rd Annual Nw Camp-inn Round Up

Re: MossyRock Pat, you should think of the Mossyrock event as being a multi-day party. People tend to gather frequently; there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason when. Food to share is brought out whenever someone feels like it. In the evening, we usually sit around the camp fire and...

Announcement It Will Be A Long Wait

Just show up and park where you want at the primitive group camp site. When you get to the check-in booth tell them you are with the group booked into the primitive group camp. They will give you a car ticket. Be sure to take a hard left right after the check in booth.

Re: MossyRock It is a large lake, but I have never seen it get very rough. There is a lot of shoreline to hug. The biggest issue is that the lake level drops as they release water late in the summer and the water level can get a bit distant from the nominal shoreline. About tent...

Re: MossyRock Hurray, the circus is coming; I mean the 2013 NW Camp-Inn Round Up. It all starts in one week in beautiful Mossyrock, WA. All are welcome, even well behaved kids and bugs. Some points of clarification. Even though the gathering starts Thursday afternoon and ends Sunday...

Re: MossyRock Thanks for posting the address and directions. It is pretty easy to find, just get on highway 12 going east from I5 and go south when you get to the town of Mossyrock. The distance between I5 and Mossyrock is a little over 20 miles. You should see signs to the park once in...

Itinerary 3rd Annual Nw Camp-inn Round Up

Sorry Bear, I have been delinquent in my responsibilities. I will post more details this evening. The primary things to remember are; bring safety goggles for all the science experiments and don’t follow Evan to the group campground.

    Big Creek in Ashford, WA

Awesome adventure. Where did you get the Rainier, I thought they stopped making that years ago. Same with Grain Belt and Leinenkugel. It seems that you can't keep a good beer down. Also, which Kelty are you using?

    Energy Independence

Joan that is a great idea for the stand and fortunately we already have one of those tables. There are two different versions of the Sunsaver, Gen 2 and 3; I am not sure which ships with Camp-Inn trailers. In any event I think they work about the same. This is what the manual says about...

    Energy Independence

Gary, I have bought both of my solar panels on eBay. I do a fair amount of transactions on eBay and have never had any problems buying from China, which is where most of the panels are manufactured anyway. The “brand” of the flexible panel I got is called Lensun and it was sold by a vendor...

    Energy Independence

While we are on the subject of solar experiences, I just got a 2nd panel and it is a bit different. I have a 120W rigid folding panel and as I have found out for most of my needs it is just too much. It is too much weight, too much bulk, too much to deploy and just too much power. If I...

Announcement What? It's Not Ready Yet?

Frank, I have heard of twelve step programs before but never a three step program. I think you are cheating by taking a short cut. In any event they all start the same; first you must admit you have a problem.

    Crazy Memorial Day weekend weather

I have to confess, the photo was taken today, but it was taken at Chinook Pass. Chinook is usually the last pass in Washington to open and we had to travel over it to get to Bumping Lake were we spent our weekend. Bumping Lake did have snow on the ground and temperatures around freezing but...
