    Hitch Receiver Anti-Clunk

I actually moved on from my "solution" a long time ago. It turned out to be too fussy to install and I did have the bolt come loose on long tows. Instead I got a tightener similar to the one posted by @Jan, made by Hitch Tech. I got it for $13 from Amazon Amazon.com: Stainless Steel...

    Gear Tie Down

@Tour931, you wanted pictures, here are some: Crossing Death Valley on the way to the Saline Valley area of the park Crankshaft Junction Camp set up at the Eureka Dunes. We were the only ones there. Eureka Dunes area from the top of the dunes, early morning.

    New Leveling Solution

Storage of the wedges is similar to a pack of Legos or maybe a bit less, but at least for now I am keeping both - since the wedges only go up to 3 inches or so, the Legos are still needed for places we go.

    New Leveling Solution

I have added a couple of new gadgets to our trailer. Leveling is one of those chores that I find necessary almost everywhere we camp. I also don't like having one wheel up in the air when the spot is way out of whack. The first gadget is an interesting shaped wedge set: The idea is that you...

    Gear Tie Down

I forgot to add that when we get back from one of these excursions and the trailer is put away, all the equipment - gas & water cans, fridge & battery, second spare tire, high lift jack, winch & anchor, etc. are put away, the four bolts are removed and the tie down board goes in the shed too...

    Gear Tie Down

The gas is for the Xterra. Out in the southwest desert fuel stops are far apart and can be quite expensive, and off road crawling consumes quite a bit of fuel. An extra ten gallons extends the range and gives peace of mind, I also always keep at least five gallons of water while off road in...

    Gear Tie Down

I made a gear tie down system to keep our stuff from shifting around in the back of our Xterra. We often go to some pretty remote places with roads bad to non-existent and things shifting around can be a problem, even downright dangerous with gas cans and an auxiliary battery. Plus I hate...

Oops, missed that. Sorry for stating the obvious.

    Very Basic Question

No need to take the battery out for a trickle charge. If you plug in the shore power in your garage, the built in charger will revert to trickle charge mode and make your battery happy. Much easier.

    Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller

I use the Tekonsha 90250 brake controller that also mounts on the trailer Amazon.com: Tekonsha 90250 Prodigy RF Electronic Brake Control: Automotive. I really like it. It has a remote controller in the cab that lets you apply the brakes manually, for testing or in extreme slippery conditions...

    Auxiliary Battery For Refrigerator

The breaker has no ground, but the isolator has a small ground wire that must be connected to the body or frame (or battery negative if no other option is available). Other than that the mounting can be to anything. Mine are attached to my fuse panel cover.

    Auxiliary Battery For Refrigerator

I installed a large threaded insert into the vehicle frame (5/16 thread I think) and bolted a cable lug to it. My Xterra has a real frame (a dying breed) making a good ground path. If you can find an appropriate size bolt under there somewhere that is in the vehicle structure it should work fine...

    Buzzing Water Pump

This morning I visited our 560 in my storage shed and noticed a buzzing noise. I discovered that the water pump switch had been left on, goodness knows for how long. There is water in the tank, shore power is connected, and the battery meter shows good voltage. The faucet has not been dripping...

    560 Ultra Battery Mystery?

Good luck, post your results. The trailer battery is actually similar capacity to a car battery in a small compact car or large motorcycle. The charger in the trailer is quite small and would take a couple of days to recharge a car battery too. I have several of these save chargers I use to...

    560 Ultra Battery Mystery?

This indicates that at best, your battery is not fully charged, and at worst, the battery is bad. Is the 12.2 volts reading with the power plugged in, or just after disconnecting? A fully charged battery will read 12.7 or 12.8 right after charging, settling down to about 12.5 after a few hours...

Is a power inverter possible when on battery/solar power?

There should be a label on the coffee maker somewhere, usually on the bottom or on the back near where the power cord goes in. It is usually a sticker so may have come off. A coffee maker is pretty power hungry, but it actually doesn't run for a long time unless you leave it set to keep a pot warm.

Is a power inverter possible when on battery/solar power?

You can certainly use an inverter in your situation, however you would be much better off finding a 12V coffee maker. Do a search on Amazon for "12v coffee maker" and you will find lots of choices. While the inverter could be used with a conventional coffee maker, you will lose a significant...

Power Port In Cabin Not Working

Check the fuses, the panel is in the right galley undercounter storage. There is a blue cover you can remove by loosening a couple of screws. The cover has a diagram showing the fuse assignments.

    Stabilizer Jack Maintenance

Great idea! I'm ordering some today. However, you really want 1/2" x 12" lag bolts, or possibly a bit shorter. The ones you indicated have a 1-1/8 head and are much too big (and expensive). These may be more appropriate: (15) Galvanized Hex Head 1/2 x 10" Lag Bolts Wood Screws: Amazon.com...

    Stabilizer Jack Maintenance

If you are using the Camp Inn supplied jack crank, yes it is pretty difficult to make significant gains in height after the jack hits the ground. The crank is actually pretty small and doesn't give much leverage, you have to put some real weight on it. Many owners add another means of adjusting...
