Impressive! New idea, and well executed!

Larger Side Tent That Will Attach To Side Doors?

The Oztent RV2 will fit 2 cots, but better with the lower height versions unless you get a larger tent. Standard height will be up against the back slanted wall...probably not an issue, but could be an annoyance. Nice thing with cots is you can store stuff under them. But I don't sleep...

    Galley Ventilation

My idea would be consistent with your cap over bed. There are windows in the CI cabin, and I've never had an issue with keeping one or both slightly opened while underway unless it's raining, in which case it would be cooler. I prefer a larger fridge anyway, so I keep it in the back of my...

    Three Strikes And I'm Out

I like how simple a Camp Inn is, part of the reason we bought it!

    Galley Ventilation

I wonder if opening a space between the galley and the cabin would be a better option. The combined airspace would reduce the heat without risking outside leaking.

Larger Side Tent That Will Attach To Side Doors?

I travel with the Oztent RV2 in my CI...it's about 6' long, so fits. I believe the larger ones are the same length packed. It's replaced some of our other items, so we're happy with the decision. I bought my Oztent used, the prior owner strapped it to his tow vehicle roof rack.

Larger Side Tent That Will Attach To Side Doors?

I'd look at two options...a Roof Top Tent or an Oztent RV3. The RTT is nice on a trailer because it can be left on permanently as opposed to a car/truck where it needs to be taken on and off. The Oztent (different sizes) has a built in canopy which can include optional sides if you want to...

Using A Tarp As A Canopy

I grew up in Washington where tarps were a must to keep us from the constant drip from trees even hours after the rain stopped. But the beach, desert, and many other places don't have trees or structure to tie to, so it's a matter of knowing where you're going and packing the tarp or the canopy.

    Weight/balance Vs. Generator Storage

I have the Yamaha 2K and put it where the cooler traditionally goes. There's actually room for both the generator and a Rotopax 2 gallon fuel tank, which has always been enough for us. Rotopax are commonly used by Jeeper's as they are mountable and can be placed on their...

    What To Look For

I've got #318. It was several years older than other TD's I was looking at, but looked much newer. The quality is legit. There was some slight wood damage from a window left open, but most of it looked new. The baby moon covers were rusted because they spent time at the beach...I didn't...

New Vs. Used - Your Take On It?

I'm a fan of buying nice things used. My #318 is often mistaken for being new. Camp-Inn quality is real, so unless it was abused it's a great used buy for the right price.

    SOLD 2006 550 Ultra

Thanks...photos and a brief description would be great! I'm surprised the off road community where you're at haven't snapped this up. I get so many people stopping by to check mine out at expos and parks...people wanting to move away from RTT's and less featured trailers. Probably too hot...

    SOLD 2006 550 Ultra

Thanks Rod! That's exactly what I want to do to mine. Would love to see pictures and/or description of how you did it. If you've got a Craiglist posting, let me know. I'm a member of several off road groups that would be interested.

Anyone Towing With A Late Model 4runner?

I tow with a 5th Gen 4Runner. The 7 pin plug is up out of the way because many people do off-road their 4Runners and the typical location would get caught and break off. My #318 550 connector was probably long enough, but I did cut it and splice in a new connector to give me another 18" just...

Is Subaru Outback 4 cylinder sufficient?

Depends on where you live how much you'll enjoy the 4 cyl. Flat...fine, mountains...you'll with you had a 6 cyl.

Trailer, Light Truck Or Passenger Tires?

I've got about 4,000 miles on my trailer tires, and so far so good. I think a CI is going to bounce regardless of the tire just due to the limited weight. I'm still getting plenty of bounce! My initial concern was my decision to move to a 15" wheel as I couldn't find anything in black that...

    On Our Way

Welcome! We love our '09 550. We've encountered many other teardrops on our adventures, and the comments we hear are about the comparably small size, yet amazing use of space. And the build quality makes one assume ours is new until we correct them. We pull with a 4Runner...no problem...
