It was not reliably working. It helped control the ability for the furnace to regulate how hot it got and serve as a safety measure for not cycling improper also. This note is more to say that the entire component is new and the furnace cycling works properly.

Would you please share some info on how you built that lift for the awning and what parts you have? I am semi skilled at rigging things like this but not so confident in spending the money yet without knowing more about rigging it up and how effective it is.
