Did you take it over the grapevine both ways? How did it do? I don't really have any trouble with that but it is quite long.

Yeah, old age is catching up with me. Driving slow is actually becoming enjoyable. Who da thunk it. :-) The worst hill I climbed was the Teton Pass leaving Grand Teton NP one year. I'd never been over it and it was the shortest way to where I was going in Idaho. But it was steep and I was...

SUV Off-Road Filed under kewl accessories to CI

It is very popular and has outsold even the F150 the last two years. But with the model redesign in 2026 (and going to all hybrid, no gas) they have been very slow rolling them out. Year over year sales are down 40% on the Rav4. So yes, they are a very popular vehicle, but a lot of the turnover...

Just curious Sweeney, how fast do you normally drive it on the flats? My 2017 Rav4 hybrid has the same 1750 limit. I have to climb one of two large/long passes when I leave and return to/from anywhere. I do ok and just stay left of the slowest trucks and right of everybody else. But other than...

    Tongue Mounted Bike Rack?

I have a 1UP and have carried one 55 lb ebike on it with no problem. I've also tried folding it down once. Still way too much trouble trying to get in/out of the galley without busting your shins or other parts of the upper body trying to maneuver around the bike and rack. When I get to camp...

What do you store in the 560 under-mattress boxes?

Like Seth I have a portable potty I've never used. Additionally a solar panel and solar cables I've never used. I do have a heavy duty power cord for shore power. That, has been used a few times. Also have an unused spare tire in another bin. Mostly it's for things I don't expect to use much.

    Camper Vans

A couple of years ago I ran into some folks I know up in the Tetons. They had purchased a Ford Van and had it converted. I got the grand tour and it was pretty cool. I didn't ask but I'm thinking I wouldn't have liked the price. I think even the "cheap" ones can be pretty pricey. I've since...

Question on Curt Echo Wireless brake control

OK, I have a story for that too....2 or 3 years ago I was getting ready to leave Sunday morning on a trip. Hooked up the trailer in the garage to the car in the driveway. Could not for the life of me figure out why it wouldn't connect. Finally figured out they had updated/replaced the app and I...

Question on Curt Echo Wireless brake control

I've had the Curt Echo for 5 years and never had a problem with it. But for sure I sometimes have to make sure that tab that @rotus8 mentioned is properly engaged before taking off. Sometimes you think you have it engaged, but you don't.....or at least that has been my experience.

    Tongue Mounted Bike Rack?

I agree with the bolded. The problem starts at the TV. 1.25" hitches are generally designed for no more than a bike rack or small carrying platform. Towing a trailer and bikes with multiple adapters is asking for trouble. I would start by upgrading the hitch to a 2".

FOR SALE 2015 Camp Inn 560 Ultra

Oh, I do have trailer brakes and a 7 pin. I would recommend them for everybody regardless of tow vehicle. Also, don’t know where you live but in California and possibly other states, without brakes the trailer can only be certified to 1500 lbs capacity which could cause insurance issues if...

FOR SALE 2015 Camp Inn 560 Ultra

I tow my 560 with a Rav4 hybrid which is rated for 1750. If you aren't always climbing big passes you should be fine.

    2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 250

Curious what year your hybrid is. Mine is 2017. While I don't do a lot of mountain towing I definitely do have to go through the Grapevine or the Cajon Pass, out and back on every trip anywhere as well as routine gradients just getting from A to B. While it isn't what I would call powerful it...
