Weekend Ice Adventure

This weekend we took SnuggleBug down to visit some friends in Vancouver, WA. Yes, they actually live in that house. (Can we take this moment to put in a request for the parsonage that looks like this...)

Then we crossed the border into Portland to stay with some other friends. That's when the snow turned to ice rain.

No real trouble on the roads - except for the crazies that pass by and then fishtail right in front of you. You've probably seen that same crew; they do get around. Now we're home safe and sound. SnuggleBug feels neglected since we towed her along but ended up staying in the house with our friends.

Glad you got to stay on that beautiful house! It was nasty out there. My dad was trying to fly into Eugene last night and a bunch of flights were diverted. He came to Portland and stayed the night here instead and I took him to the train this morning. I-5 south of Portland has been a nightmare. Eugene even had a snowplow flip over in the ice and a lot of people are still without power (mom and dad got their power back this afternoon, but lost a couple of trees in the orchard and a power pole).

Glad things are starting to melt. Kids are still out of school tomorrow and we still have 8 inches of ice covered snow in the yard, but it looks like roads (and trees) are starting to clear. Just have to watch it if you are out walking (we might break out helmets for fear of being smacked in the noggin!).

Man oh man, I think we'll delay our drive north just a tad longer. 70 degrees at Refugio Beach today and no rain in the forecast for 10 days!
