Weekend Getaway

Last weekend we decided to head for the hills in search of some cooler weather. Left Thursday evening, still in the 90's arrived in Cherokee, NC to the low 60's! Just what we needed. Cool temps all weekend, no cell service and the sound of rushing streams.

Our site wasn't on the water but not far.

All in all, a great little campground out in the woods. Very well kept and clean.

Thanks Ken! Kinda got the bug for fishing again. This was the first time I've fished in over 10 yrs and the first trout I've caught in almost 20 yrs.

I'd say you were long overdue!

Jason - I like everything about your photos. Except, us folks from the NW can't figure out why you try to find cooler temperatures... ?

Boy Evan, when temps start getting over 85, I run for cooler temps! Don't you? I thought that was a NW thing, as we are not used to the heat. I will say I am happy about the drier weather (although we have do have rain coming in tomorrow...it is because we are having a birthday party at the house...that always happens!). Right now though, I am wishing for at least 75-80...my garden needs it! Especially my tomatoes! I guess I am a bit picky! :)

Looks like a great weekend away! Thanks for sharing!

I love the south but not the humidity and 90+ degree days for days on end. This week at home wasn't too bad, must have brought some cooler air with me.

Jason&Angie,
Sorry it took so long to find your post.I really enjoyed your pics!! Looks like a great location. We will have to plan a trip there in the near future. Was this a state park or a commercial/private owned camp?

We were on site 42, which had full hookups. It was a last minute trip and the creek sites were booked. There were some smaller RV's/Pop-Up's on the creek w/ the tent campers. We actually liked it away from the creek on our site since we were a little bit away from the other folks. Very cool temps and the creek noise at night was nice and loud. Another good thing for us was we were out of contact with the world, no cell service :) .

wouldn't you know I got the fish wrong my father would be embarased with my ignorance - but they do look good.

Is that stove the same as a "green egg"? we have been considering one for home - never thought of taking it camping.
How do you like it?

Pat
Yep it's the "mini" Big Green Egg. We use it primarily camping and use the "large" at the house. Had the large almost 3 yrs and can't imagine not having it now.
