Snake River
Just got back from the Hells Canyon, Snake River Boogie Boat Trip from Lewiston, ID
Ok, so that was a Kick…
Finally did it.
Drove over Friday, met my Bro, Robin, who came in from Missoula, MT.
Had a simple meal, met on the boat the next morning.
Got on the boat up to the “Lodge” had lunch, switched to the Boogie Boat for the wild ride up to the dam. Lots of boat campers, fishers and thank Gawd I don’t live there as I’d have to “have me one O’dem dar Skoot boats…” (twin Jet boats) maybe with twin 360 Super Charged Chevys in it.. VA-roooommm, rumble, Rumble… with at least 1000hp ready to go camping..
The river looks deceiving as coming down was wetter than going up.. going down, you just see a thin white water line going across the river.. Thin that is, until you cross it.. and then drop 4-8 ft into the trough.. Tried to get some decent pics but hard to and keep the camera dry… and survive the waves…
A fun trip, campground was nice, lotsa kids, no bugs, stayed at a ‘Standard site’, no power and just as well, just ate and slept. While we’re we going to have dinner after the trip, I was wiped out, ate an old sandwich and called it a night. The day started as the boat loaded up at 8am, return at 6-ish??
Slight rain but tree coverage was so good, ground was dry. Sunday morning?? Thought of breakfast, coffee.. but?? Heck, just pop the chairs in the truck, close up the drop and I’m off… so did.. nice drive, temp all weekend was high on Friday at 83 and rest of weekend mid 70’s.. nice..
Anyway, till the next one, good trip, highly recommended, it’s a onetime deal that needs to be done.. checked it off the list… but ??? I’d go back.
