Combine Demolition Derby at Lind, WA
WTF is Lind, WA, well right here of course.
Started out with rain from Seattle, then cleared sorta but the wind was blowing everything away.
Couldn’t really cook as planned on the BBQ, couldn’t put the canopy up, so just bare bones.
Got there around 3pm, a spot, reassigned, right at the RV site parking entrance, felt like the Official Greeter.
I was the only “Drop” there and people were coming by asking, “Do you sleep in that…?”
The empty spot right next to me quickly filled with a motorcycle group.. at first I thought “Oh Krap… it’s going to a long night..” but worked out well and was a nice group, reminded me of the movie the ”Wild Hogs”
The GOOD…
Friday night started it off with the cars.
Sat morning a downtown parade, band, float or two and the star attractions, the Combines and the Grain Trucks. It was kinda weird as the parade people were throwing candies on the street for the little critters (Kids) to pick up… A-hem, right in front of the combines and trucks… hmmm… maybe there is master plan..
The BAD……..
Then back to the races, more cars, trucks and finally the combines. Coors of course…
Got crowded on the combine events, beer was flowing and they were doing the “Wave”. Next exciting event was throwing empty beer cans into the bins from the grandstands.. sorta like shooting Hoops?? I guess…
The Ugly……..
Nice Saturday Sunset and then out early Sunday morning. I’m really liking driving across the Eastern WA in the early sunrise hours. Only car on the road more or less, So Quiet, Zen like…
Fun trip, would do it again if motivated…
